EDIT: Yes turns out I was trying to fix the wrong type of gun into the wrong socket altogether... I suck at this.

On a totally different note that rocket cruiser pilot flies worse than I do, he's at 50% hp and I've not even ventured into alien space yet!

I've hit something of a wall in terms of progress... I spread my points out in some places in the skill tree here and there, but got to the point where I can fly a cruiser but the only one I can afford/find accepts level 2 ballistic weapons... which I can't use. I'm finding it really hard at the moment to level up to fit level 2 weapons and there seems to be a huge jump once you get told to destroy a hive.

Would it be game-breaking to be able to fit smaller class weapons in larger slots? Cheers anyway fun game so far.
