@Hellwarlord I am so very impressed with the quality of your posts, may I know what you do in real life?

Ontopic: I would also suggest updating the Greenlight page with patch notes and links to the forum.
The vlogs are a good idea but they need to be worked on a bit.

Greetings.

Nothing serious yet, studying finance.

Alas, but it isn't that simple.
We've contacted dozens of websites, youtubers and other media people, but generally only 1 in 25 even respond at all, not to mention giving us a coverage.

But if you know someone, or know some youtubers who would be willing to make a review or let's play we will provide gift codes for them (and for you of course) as many as needed.

Greetings.

It is normal that many of them do not respond, but in websites like mmorpg.com; mmohuts.com you can post info about game by yourself, make reviews, make posts about latest additions/features/news, etc. In most cases you just need good writing skills and time to manage communities of these gaming portals. But, for example, if you do not have time to do this(because your main role & task is game development) you should consider hiring community manager and/or advertisement specialist. At this moment, one person with good writing skills and clear vision how to push product is more than enough.

About gift code system: Distributing gift codes to random people who will spam forums or write few messages about product wont have significant effect in the long run. What is more, it may 1) attract thousands of leechers 2) poor advertisement may negatively affect reputation of VoidExpanse 3) will cause negative financial effect on the company(as I have mentioned, if there is forecasted 1500 copies to be sold during release, by distributing 150 free gift codes you are cutting 10% from your revenue).

So I would advice to 1) Identify Top10 gaming websites and start adding basic information about VoidExpanse there; Add additional information about game features/possibilities/etc; Get several complete VoidExpanse reviews there; Constantly update it with info, such as patch notes, coming features, etc & manage community; 2) Identify large amount of Youtubers(Game Reviewers/LP) and distribute gift keys only to them.

Greetings.

You should try doing some interviews with popular gaming sites; ask some sci-fi gaming sites to write preview about VoidExpanse; find and post info about VoidExpanse on gaming sites where VoidExpanse is still unknown(I am sure there are a lot of gaming sites who do not even know that VoidExpanse exists - example: death by beta, mmohuts; rockpapershotgun; mmorpg.com; alphabetagamer); Some of these webs(like mmorpg.com) post info not only about mmorpg but about other genres as well, so do not be afraid of their name; And lastly, try to post info about VoidExpanse on popular English gaming sites as well as Russian ones.

annnd, that's about it for my ideas. If you think that sounds epic, feel free to comment...or share your own if you'd like.

I think that this is EPIС!
Downside is that we will have to wait until Developers will have some time to implement this nice idea with big ships(aka flying stations) and all required new mechanics for them.

Of course, some balance changes should be made, but your idea could be great addition to the game, especially in PvP servers with Zone Conquer systems/Station Capture, etc.

Thank you for quick reply.

Why would we do that? We want anyone being able to see how everything works and make any changes they want.
You are right; sorry, its my bad.

Not entirely sure what you mean here, but if you mean actually modifying client rendering routine - it isn't possible. Only game content and logic can be modded at the moment.
Well if it is not possible by modders, I want to suggest you implementing some sort of minigame for mining. Good example of this feature can be seen in this video; game has been released in 2009. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8myncHlFkk

Even if they modify an existing script they should make it in an MPK file. Modding core package isn't how it supposed to be done.
Is there example/guide how to create a proper mod?(Without touching core.cpk file) It would be better if this example/guide would be available on Wiki so that anyone can find it and use it.

Modding info / Modding Questions & Issues.
August 14, 2014, 10:34:22 PM
Greetings.

I have found that there is no sufficient information available for Players who want to create their own mod and therefore it is not new-user-friendly.

First of all, People should know which programs they will need in order to open files (such as core.cpk); which programs they will need in order to work with images/objects/icons & programs to work with scripts. So if possible, it would be highly appreciated if Developers could create Wiki page with this essential information.

Secondly, Players(especially newbies) need some guides in order to know from where they should start(for example, if they simply want to change Ship stats or add more Weapons).

Thirdly, I have seen that other Players(modders) are changing core.cpk file which is the one with retail scripts. So here is the question: should not mods be changed/added in separate file? I mean, according to wiki core.cpk file contains everything which should not be changed and in order to create mod we should use other file, is that correct?

Fourthly, I think AtomicTorch Developers should encrypt their scripts in core.cpk because currently anyone can extract them.

Lastly, I have got a question about programming. We are working on mining feature. How can you draw partly transparent image on the screen and dispose it? What functions should be used? And how cursor can be manipulated?

Best regards,

Greetings.

There should be some kind of quests or other ways to get reputation especially if you are hostile with that faction.

Greetings.

This will change a lot in the near future. Not only because steam greenlight, but because skilled and determined people will begin creating epic mods(& Localization patches) which will be a complete gamechanger(s). However, at the moment, game is struggling to attract required people which will make VoidExpanse bloom, but it is not a serious problem, just some time and concrete actions are required. Actually, I have got already few ideas about this case but I still want to polish them before I release them to public.

Greetings.

Unfortunately, if game will not require internet connection in order to play, it will become much more easier to crack it and as you may understand whenever someone cracks product and gets it for free it is the worst case scenario for the publishing company.
