I've removed my mods from Steam workshop including ones from Skyrim. I may release mods again, but not until this clusterfuck sorts itself out.

For more information, look at the articles covered on Kotaku and Destructoid

Thank you very much for not becoming a slave of greed and immaturity :D

It's a bit more complex than that. :P

The only thing that really made me hate the situation, personally, was the comment from 'Valve legal department' that said if another mod was being offered free to the public, people should feel free to poach it for paid mods.  That should have never, ever been said and also doesn't hold up legally. :|

Hope it all works out, though.  I'd much rather see them put into place a system where mod developers are just encouraged to work more closely with game publishers, and in some cases are merely allowed to release paid mods as 'non-official DLC' that the development studio signs off on.  I do firmly believe that some mods are so involved, and have high enough production values, that they should have the right to collect a bit of income, but not in the current system they are trying to push.  As it was said... a clusterfuck, and anyone who watched what happened with Bukkit for Minecraft knew what was coming.

This topic (not Pinkeh's initial post) is maybe better suited for the
"General Discussion"-section of the Forum, as it could become
busy and opiniated, i just wanted to thank Pinkeh for his or her
decision, not start an unrelated discussion :)

Loudent, please take that either to a private message medium or the general discussion area as i suggested earlier, knowing what might happen here.
Pinkeh edited his opening post already and this thread is about his mods, not about his very personal principles.

Decided not to bring back the mods. I'm done with the drama caused by Valve / Bethesda's greed. I was actively involved with multiple group projects for Skyrim and none of those projects can proceed now because of the divide in opinions and views amongst project contributors. This is a decent summary of the shitstorm last week, which is going to have an everlasting effects on the modding scene in Skyrim.

The events last week have simply forced everyone to clarify their intentions and goals with shared projects. Unfortunately the chaos has already caused irreparable damage to the works I was part of. So the people that suffer are end-users. I will still make mods from time to time, but I'm done with it for now.

*grins* Well, i guess i was wrong about the purpose of this thread ;)

Pinkeh, I don't get it, why quit modding altogether?
You know of course that you can release mods on other
sites than the steamworkshop.
