Could you check it please? Simply run:

ldd /VoidExpanse_Data/Plugins/x86_64/libsteam_api.so

It will print all the required libraries and how they maps to your system libraries. Post the commands output here please.

So the game is simply not starting for you?

I just tried this version (1.6.11) in Ubuntu 14.04 x64 in VMWare and it works normal.
Could you launch it from the terminal please? In my case it outputs:

I see something new in the log:

This is a known issue with some Unity-based games and AMD GPU's on Ubuntu 14.04. For example https://steamcommunity.com/app/327880/discussions/0/492378265880478470/
There is a similar report for KSP http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/137457-ubuntu-1404-64bit-unity-crash-on-load/

It seems we need to wait for an update from Unity and/or AMD.

Meanwhile you could try suggestions from the KSP thread above (-force-gfx-direct launch argument). I think its better to try with the latest stable version as it at least launches without the immediate crash.

The -force-gfx-direct argument worked, though the screen will flicker from time to time. This is only a minor annoyance though and the game is now playable. Thanks for all of your help and keep up the good work!

Hello!

Regarding the visual glitches / screen flickering you've reported above. We just uploaded a new preview version which is using different renderer. Please try it - "1.6.11_openglcore" (restart the Steam Client if you don't see this version in the "Betas" dropdown menu). Please remove "-force-gfx-direct" from the game launch options, and add it back if the game not launching.

Still crashed on start so I added back the launch arguments. Once up and running everything went pretty smoothly for about twenty minutes then the screen flicker came back, though not as often and not as seizure inducing (aka didn't flash bright green at me this time). However after another ten minutes or so the game crashed. Have to go to a family dinner but I will try to remember to pull the logs and upload them tonight. I looked through them briefly and it was throwing a lot of physics halted errors. Looks like it dropped 10 snapshots, if you can guide me as to how to pull those I will. Also there seems to have been a few Server synch issues that occurred right before the crash. This was all in single player.

Could you upload the Player.log file on Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link please? Usually it contains the crash information which we need to debug the issue.

Regarding the dropped physics snapshots and server resync - this is normal if the game framerate is not smooth. The game just notifies about all the cases, I suppose we should make it not so verbal.
