Very nice updates!  Thank you guys for hosting a PVE server.

Thanks for posting this, Giang Nam.  There's a lot of good info here, for the new patch but also for the game in general.  I learned a lot, and it's always nice to see another person's opinions.

Back to fast travel - I'd like to set bedrolls at each of our personal land claims, and just let us pick which bed to spawn to.  Maybe with a button to fast travel and take a few minutes (let us chat at least) or on death.  This just expands on what we currently do without revolutionary changes.

Game discussion / Shared base example

I thought I'd post a screenshot of a shared base, this is on America PVE. When we had active people, we often had 15 or 20 people cooperating on the base.

There's 3 land claims for the main base: one for a shared farm, the second for crafting and storage, and the expansion on the bottom left for beds and mailboxes.  We also had team members place some claims adjacent, and some claims in the swamp / desert for resources.  The terrain we placed the main base made it interesting with cliffs and ramps at the top and bottom, but it worked out.

I think the storage area worked well, especially the vertical row of chests up /down and signs on the inside - like on the left side of the furnaces, up to the steam generator.  We had some rows of horizontal chests, but the graphics look nicer if the sign is above the chest rather than below, and the horizontal paths never looked as good.  The chests are kind of vertically high on the tile.  We could run horizontally through those chests, but if two people pick the same path they will collide so it's nicer to mark some specific paths.  The vertical paths were always more heavily traveled because we were between those two ridges.

On the right side, there's a convenient place to clear your inventory of animal drops - toxin, fat/slime, leather/fur, and bones.  It was a nice place to stop first when we come back from the wilderness.

We had more primitive refrigerators when we had people active, this wouldn't be enough food storage for an active team.  The hoverboard garage needs some space around it, so we cleaned that area up after we placed it.  The mailbox chests for each person were very useful, we could always ask people to drop something specific in our chest, or grab something from a chest.  Of course it's all just an honor system, but we don't grab from the personal chests without talking about it first.

We could probably use more global chat channels.  We did use the party chat, but we often had more than 10 people online in the base, or even just 4 people online in the party and 4 more online that were not in the party - so we used world chat quite a lot.  I'm sure it annoyed other players on the server at some points, but most players were tolerant of it.  It would be nice to have a world chat 2, world chat 3, etc and we could use one of those channels for larger teams.

Thanks for everyone who contributed, it was a lot of fun especially in December and January when we had so many people active.

Sorry - disregard !   It's working, the filled vials were going to his hotbar.

Game discussion / Biomaterial Collector
December 15, 2019, 12:46:58 PM
I'm playing PVE, I unlocked genetics and made the biomaterial collectors and empty vials.  I gave one collector and vials to our team members, but it doesn't seem to work for them to help collect genetic material.  Does the collector require the Cybernetics skills to be unlocked to use?

Thanks

Ideas and suggestions / Research ideas
December 10, 2019, 02:00:02 PM
Hi, I've only been playing for a few days so I'm not yet an expert.  I had a few ideas I'd like to post from the early game, at least from a PVE perspective.

The ammo for different firearms currently unlocks in the same tier research as the firearm itself.  I think you'd have more chances to trade and improve the economy if ammunition for all the firearms opened up early.  Players would have some incentive to trade or purchase for a pistol if they can make ammo themselves.  Also, for teams the junior members could get involved making ammunition early even for T2 / T3 weapons.

The repairs, I like that the Tinker bench adds the quality of the two weapons, then adds 10% ... it would be nice to have an option to repair with just the duct tape for less of the repair bonus.  Maybe half.  It's just inconvenient to finally build a nice shotgun but then have to craft another when it degrades, save both, and then repair them together.  It's a hassle and not fun.

The chat system is inconvenient, with the different tabs for different content.  I'd prefer all the chats show up in one window, with a different color or a different number in front of the channel.

Also with chats, the party system at 10 people is too small.  Maybe we could have the ability to create custom channels that people opt-in / opt-out from but with a larger limit (or no limit).

As far as objects in the world, I like the chests made from wood / iron / steel but I think it would be nice to add a label (like the sign) but directly to the chest.

The skills leveling up right now isn't really exciting.  I guess you'll get a lot of suggestions how to make them more interesting, but for now it's just grindy without much to show for level 20.

It's a great game so far, I really do like it - keep up the good work.  I trust you guys to make an awesome game   :)
