Title: Save Game corruption on windows[1.4.10]
Post by: nukeofwf on August 20, 2015, 05:38:53 PM
Game version: v1.4.10
Mode: Singleplayer
Bug Location: Loading game
Steps to Reproduce: Attempt to Load save.
Reproduction Rate: 100% Locally
Description: Save does not show in list. This happened after playing the game and having a computer crash in the middle of playing, not during a game auto-save oddly.
Log: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwnAbARxnGCoWGR0Q2hIeXNnOVE/view?usp=sharing
Save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwnAbARxnGCoT1lHY3JLTk1sZEE/view?usp=sharing

Thanks. Log shows Index out of bounds.

Additional Logs (I think as crash happened) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwnAbARxnGCobkduUVhoRmdLTlU/view?usp=sharing

As a suggestion could you make the game auto save to three sequential saves which get overwritten in sequence?

Fortunately, only the meta-data files were damaged.
This is quite strange - as all the savegame files firstly are written to the hard drive and only then previous data files replaced with the new written files. Something like this happens once for me on SSD drive - as they're very sensitive to crashes and power losses (unable to flush from cache to flash memory cells).
Anyway you could easily fix this. Just create new world with the same difficulty, quit the game and copy the metadata files ("save_info.data" and "save.data") from the new save slot folder to the corrupted save slot folder.
Regards!

Thanks for the information.
I did have a sudden crash, and yes, the save location is on an SSD.
Will try the fix when I get home tonight.

Awesome support you have going on here. Keep it up!
