Game discussion / Linux
July 11, 2017, 03:33:45 AM
Hello,

I know you will do Linux at release like you said, and did, for you previous game, and it's great. Somehow sad not to be able to be part of the testing phases, but it's not a big deal, if Linux is well commited then.

I open this only to gather the players who would play it on Linux.

What's your systems ?

My system (from 2015, no hardware upgrad since) :

I use PlayOnLinux/WINE to play a few Windows games, but the vaste majority of them are Linux-friendly.

Linux Mint 18.2 64bits Xfce
Intel Core i5 4590 (4 x 3,3 GHz)
MSI GeForce GTX 960 @ 2 Go
Drivers NVIDIA 375
8 Go DIMM DDR3 PC12800
Screen 16/9 24" LED 1920x1080
Keyboard bépo (dvorak fr) / Mouse Logitech MX518
Joystick Logitech T16000 / Gamepad XboxOne USB

Hello,

After being more or less active during Void's developpement, and sadly disappointed by Dinocide (unsolved Linux troubles, and too light gameplay), i still have good feelings toward AtomicTorch Studio, and i wonder what will be your next step, if any ?

Game discussion / Dinocide - internet reviews
January 24, 2016, 01:21:52 PM
Hello,

From what i've seen, internet reviews are pretty bad. Mostly, it's said Dinocide gives nothing new, and only surf on the retro-nostalgic wave, in a lazy way.

I'm sad to agree in some extend. I still quite like it, but i'm also disappointed by the lack of depth and audacity. It's simply a medium 8bits games, even if it was released 20 years ago.

It's not a bad game, just... a game.

What personaly disturbed me, is some parts of the game i thought in Alpha were placeholders, are in the Release version. For example that stupid pig-zombi-pirate mob. It's completly out of place.

Also, Dino choices are not relevent, because each stage only has one dino to fit with. It would have been better to have different options depending on the dino i pick for a given stage. For example a lava way in a desert stage could lead to some special places and bonuses, but it's not really like this.

It's good to keep inventory and dinos, but it's not "enough". I kind of enjoy it, but i won't play it more than one or two completed runs, i guess.

I'm curious to see what others think, and what you will do about your game now it's out (patch, DLC, free addition, nothing, etc).

Bug reports & help / Linux - screen flickering ingame
January 22, 2016, 09:04:01 AM
Hello,

I tried the full release now, via Steam. Menu are fine, but when i'm in the stage, controling my toon, the screen is shaking a little from time to time, and flifkering, with large lines across the view. I tried to capture it but it's not on the screenshot, they look "normal". Restarting Steam or the system doesn't change it.

Game discussion / Back in timer
December 07, 2015, 04:04:17 AM
Hello,

I'm not fan of the timer. I never like timers, in any games. I like to look at details, explore, try things... With a timer, i just want to rush and go the the end as quickly as possible, sure it's the goal of a timer, but it wastes content, in my opinion.

Also, i don't like timer linked to health. I'd prefer if i have maybe only 1 hit, upgradable to 2 hits maybe, and after i'm out of hits, then the timer starts and i can remove it with food.

So, i start with no timer, and i can be hit once.

If i don't have hit left, the timer starts, faster than the one we have now (10 seconds ?)

If i eat a fruit, the timer stops, and i have one hit again.

Later i can improve my hits, so i can take 2 hits before the timer starts.

With a dino i can take 3 hits. First hit removes the dino. Second hit remove one hit... Last hit starts the timer.

For boss, there is no food, so i must kill the boss without taking a hit, or within 10 seconds, so it's safer to bring a dino so i can take one hit "safely". Then you love your dino more.

Modding info / Step by step to create a simple mission ?
September 07, 2014, 02:16:19 AM
Hi, i would like to create a campaign, but i know nothing about modding, so i must start with something small, like a single simple mission. I have no idea where to start, how to start, what to do, etc. I've read a little the wiki but i don't understand much. I've never modded a game before, i want to learn, but i need the very first steps to be explain clearly.

Hi there,

I play a little to the lastest version of the game, with only one mod, Breaching the Hull. I did one mission about slavery, where i went pretending to be a slave buyer, then save someone, from an Order guy in a station. The mission was successful, then i went outside the station, questing for advanture, mining some ore, and back to the station before leaving the game.

Now i loaded my saved game and on my journal i had to do this slavery mission again. I didn't have to kill or lie to the slavers, i only had to gather the victim and go back to the station.

So i went out the station and back again before saving. Now it seems the game is stuck into the loading screen. I can fix my game if i press Esc during the loading screen, which brings the option to save and exit again. Then i have to exit the game, and launch it again. Only then i can continue my previous game (and the mission with slaves is completed).

Hi,

I'd like to save my game in different slots, and also to save without exiting the game. I know there is autosave system every 5, 10, 15 minutes, and autosave when docking, but it's all auto saving. I'd like to manage my saved games myself, with different slots if i want to try something, or just for safety (i've already lost several saved games in my looong life of player, because of computer crashes, electricity failures, etc).

Please ?

Hi there,

I want to play a new game with 097c version, and the mod Miners Heaven : http://forums.atomictorch.com/index.php?topic=239.0

So i start as an Adventurer, talk to Joe, recover the package, mine some ressources, buy a new hull (Endeavor)... and then i save and quit, just in case, because i had troubles in previous 09x versions.

When i load my saved game, i start from the first step, Talk to Joe, with the civilian hull.

I'm sad.

Bug reports / About v.0.9.0 Experimental
July 24, 2014, 09:10:38 AM
I run the game on Win7x64.

I could play on V8 with full graphical options with an acceptable FPS rate, and in very good condition with lower settings.

With the v.0.9.0 Experimental, i have a lot of slow, with all settings to minimum. When i change to maximum or in between of course it's worst.

Also, when i started the game at first, i got an infinite loading screen, and i had to kill application before restarting again. Now, when i enter or exit the game, when i reach the main menu, i get an auto Alt-Tab, and i have to go back to the game to pass the menu.

So far, it's my only grip with this new version. Everything else seems nice, but it's only maybe one hour of playtime. It's good to see all this new content !

Hi,

Maybe i've missed it, i don't think so, the possibility to jump more than one system away. It's quite boring to have to cross each single system to go to one end of the map to the other one. I would like to "have to" do that only once, and then, unlock bigger jumpgates, at least one for every "capital".

Ideas and suggestions / Soapy opera
April 09, 2014, 03:52:21 AM
Hi,

I'm no level 48 and i fly the Crab Hull (not enough money to upgrade yet). I feel my ship is very slippy, i feel i'm piloting a wet soap instead of a ship. In games like SPAZ, Drox Operative or Star Sector, i don't have this feeling, my ship is much more responding to my commands, and it's more fun.

Ideas and suggestions / Camera behavior
April 09, 2014, 03:49:27 AM
Hi,

I think my ship is too much in the middle of the screen, even if i move the mouse far over. I feel quite useless to see behind me, i it would be better in my opinion to have the ship more close to the edge of the screen when flying.

Also the zoom level is a little to short, but maybe if the camera is moved it will be better.

Better, an option to set it according to players preference.

Ideas and suggestions / Where did i store my suff ?
April 08, 2014, 10:02:39 AM
Hi,

I'd like to know where did i store my stuff ! After a few jumps, several stations visited, new hulls bought, some loots sold, i'm lost. Where is my cargo-miner hull ? Where are my old weapons ?

When mouseover a system, i would like to see something like * next to a station's name, so i know i have something there. Or a new tab in my cargo inventory, showing everything, not accessible but at least tellingm e where it is stored.

Hi,

I don't know about you, but i find myself going from Radar to Map very often, to see how close am i from the jumpgate or the station. I suggest to add new icones on the edge of the radar, pointing to these locations even if out of range, like in many space games. Maybe with a better radar, or an upgrade with skill points, but at least, do something about it please.

Also, change the icones : squares for stations, lozenges for jumpgates.

And, add names overhead of jumpgates and stations, just like we can read the name overhead IA spaceships.
