[SOLVED] Crash on every launch in Ubuntu 14.04

Volkard

I am running an all AMD system with Radeon HD6570 graphics and the most up to date proprietary drivers. Operating system is Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. Every time I launch the game it crashes very shortly after the screen goes black to load the game in fullscreen. I have been digging all day to find an answer to this issue and have tried every suggestion fielded so far on these and the Steam forums to no avail. Thanks for the log! The issue is still not clear, but I hope these solutions might help:
1. try launch the game with -force-opengl launch argument. Open the game properties in Steam and click on "Set launch options" button (see screenshot http://screencloud.net/v/jJ8R ). It may sounds strange, but in some cases it resolves the similar crash.
2. try to edit the file "SettingsClient.xml" at "~/.config/AtomicTorchStudio/VoidExpanse/" - find
<windowed>Fullscreen</windowed>
and change to
<windowed>Windowed</windowed>
In that case the game at least should run properly in the windowed mode.

Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the issue at our test environment - we have Ubuntu 14.04 installed to the virtual machine in VMWare and it runs the game just fine. Also the game runs good on Ubuntu 14.10 and 15.04 on physical machines (MacBook Pro and PC) using NVIDIA and AMD GPU's with proprietary drivers.

Also we're going to push a small patch for VoidExpanse during this week addressing a few small issues and with upgraded Unity (5.3.5). That might help.

No dice. It looks like the client has been crashing before generating any settings files so I went online and searched for where someone had posted the contents of theirs and created it in "~/.config/AtomicTorchStudio/VoidExpanse/" however that did not yield any results either.

I'm actually really interested now in figuring out what is going on with it. Is there a way to put it in debug mode? Any CLI arguments I can specify when running it to force a dump?

You could upload on Google Drive or Dropbox and post the link.
But I suppose that the debug mode actually will not help in that case - the crash happens somewhere inside bundled Mono library coming with the Unity engine - we cannot fix anything related to it.
So our only hope is to update to the latest Unity version and see if that helps. I will post here when the patch for VE is available.

Ran a debug on mono and am seeing some interesting errors and redirects to secondary libraries. Supposing those secondary libraries are compatible then it should still run. Scratching my head on this one and hoping that the Unity update will fix it.  :-\

We just uploaded a preview build of the next version on Steam. To install it:
1. Restart the Steam client (it will update the game metadata).
2. Open VoidExpanse properties.
3. Select "Betas" tab.
4. Select "1.6.11" in the dropdown menu.
5. Wait until the update is finished.

I hope it helps, if still not - please upload the game Player.log file and full debug dump.

Still no dice. Deleted everything to see if I could get it to run on a fresh install and now it won't generate logs at all on any version. Going to run debug later and upload. It seems like the stack is crashing before the environment is even set up.
