We already had this discussion multiple times - the devs do not want to go into Early Access.
At the time I was also saying what you are saying but now I do understand why they do not want to go into EA.
The game is almost finished although more "enhancements" could be added. Going into Early Access means that you need to listen to the feedback given on Steam and make the changes where relevant. This means that the game would not go to a "released" status for a while (since we all know they will get a sh*t-ton of feedback/complaints/comments from people that know better).
Also these days people tend to not buy into the Early Access anymore as before, meaning that if your game is in EA people tend to look more negatively at it.

I fully agree that the devs should go for a full release, and I just want to say that they should do that release sooner than later. Releasing more towards the summer will not be good as I know a lot of people do go outside (really?), so the sales won't be as big.

As said in another post, I think it would be good to release the game with a can-do list, a wish-list and a possible roadmap on where you want to go if the game sells well enough. Such information will trigger people into buying the game as they can see that the devs won't just drop all development.

Knowing the devs, if people get issues playing the game, they will solve any post-release issue with the speed of Thor's hammer-throw! :)

Ah, kyokei, thank you so much for letting me not to explain again our official position and reasons why we are not going to EA! You did it very well! :D But, I must say that we are not going to use some roadmaps, to-do lists and stuff like that. It maybe makes the game less anticipated, but for us it will look like a direct promise to do something. We prefer to promise something in a very short-term perspective and connect these promises to the current situation. Being free and flexible this way. In addition, we'll have a lots of work with an issues and bugs and everything after release, so making any hasty promises would be ... err... inappropriate.  8)

Hope you guys are making good money and can keep making games...add to this one and get a new one going too. I think you could use more marketing though. I found this through a post on a forum or something..heck cant even recall now. I know that takes cash but maybe theres some cheaper ways.

And I have to tell you guys that I have new stuff like BF Hardline, Heroes of the Storm, Dragon age...many many others..I have about 28 games installed right now ....but I am playing VE much much more than any of them. In the 1990's I could get so many diverse game types....I could play an underwater diving treasure hunter one game and then be a a hospital overseer the next to a alien killing machine. These days there just not enough chances taken in the gaming market and it is SO nice to see you guys burst onto the scene with a game like VE. Not only the setting and the play ( I am a HUGE overhead view lover)...but to make a game that actually works.(no crashes here)...to it being extremely fun. Thats just so cool. I have no idea how big your company is..I'd guess 8 people maybe??..Im probably waaaay off.....but I hope you have plans for even more games and types. I hope you look back at the older days and games like Buck Rogers, Starflight, to Sea Rogue(thats the undersea treasure hunting sim/game).

Dae

Well, of course we plan new projects too. And, you know, looking back is sometimes cool, but now it is such an interesting time when a lots of independent views and ideas bring some beautiful products to life. Culture is also always changing. And we cannot be blind and deny the modern ways of everything. So, we are trying to fusion the great things from the past with the modern way of thinking and gaming. This is the only way to deliver some exciting games to the player. And we are trying hard doing that.

Awesome! I'd love that :D

I assumed what Omicron meant when they mentioned upgrades was the ability to purchase a more expensive item rather than upgrading an item that you've already purchased - the same way that the other upgrades in the game work (like when you replace your shield with a better one, I consider that to be upgrading it). I'm not sure how that would work with lasers on ships though - perhaps some ship hulls that have generic weapon slots instead of specified slots?

Yeah, I described the only way upgrading is possible.
And there will be no generic slots. This is our motivated decision.

Hallo!

Had the game for a few days now and really enjoying it. It's like X-Universe 'Lite', which isn't a bad thing :D I've gone down the prospector route, and have a few suggestions for things that would make that path, I feel, more interesting, viable and fun (and being a fan of X-Universe, these ideas will be influenced from things I've experienced in that game - it's not my intention for this game to be something it isn't, but they're things I feel could be incorporated into this game well). If not things to be added to the base game, then things I'd like to see modded. :D

Going down the prospector path I've of course been concentrating the majority of my skill points into engineering, and to a lesser extent into piloting (for the cargo space) and social (for the  commerce). This leaves me a bit weak in the combat department, not to mention that the current ship in the game with the biggest cargo hold is very sub-par compared to the fighting-class ships. There are a few ways I can think of to compensate (while keeping the skill trees specialised). Being able to own multiple ships, and either controlling the others via A.I. or via hiring pilots, would open up a few fun things - assigning ships to 'guard' me while I mine (and I should point out at this point that I know drones are a possible planned feature), but also being able to send them off to mine/trade themselves.

(Speaking of drones - will there be a variety of drones? Mining drones, maybe?)

Ships with bigger cargo holds is something I'd very much like. I'm currently in a freighter, which has the biggest cargo hold of any ship in-game and only costs some 7,000d and is easily attainable at low level - which leaves me nothing to upgrade into, because all the more expensive, fancier ships have smaller cargo holds. This makes the prospector class (and trader, I'd imagine) a bit stunted compared to the fighting classes - I can increase my cargo capacity a bit more with skill allocation, but can't upgrade my ship hull any further without sacrificing cargo space. I got the freighter as soon as the skill point unlocked (level 15?), and that's me done now as far as ship hulls are concerned - so it'd be really nice to still have some bigger, better hulls to aim for that are suited for large-scale mining operations ^.^

Edit - oh, and I knew there was something I'd forgotten :D The ability to place multiple waypoints on the map would be sweet. I'd love to be able to mark the better quality asteroids on the map for example, so that I can quickly see where they are when returning to systems. :)

Hi!
Adding a new ships will be the simplest and the nearest update, I suppose. I'm not promising anything now but adding a new, massive highlev freighter is very possible  and sounds very reasonable.
Can't say anything about drones and wingmen - it needs more work on it and will happen later, if happens at all.
Multiple WPs - yeah, more map tools would be great an I'll put this to discussion ASAP.

Our community on Steam has been surprisingly lovely since we released our game (we got through Greenlight). We'd heard nothing but bad things about, initially, the kinds of comments we'd get on Greenlight and then about the kind of reception we'd get once the game went live, but everyone's been really awesome.  Hopefully it'll be the same for you guys!
Yeah, we hope it'll be that way. Anyway, rage fighting -it is the thing we can do:)

thanks for the fast response ;)

let`s do it again!

2. that`s a good thing, do it the hole time, but try to aim a stationary enemy (base defenders, small ones) and try to hit him as fast as possible with the stationary weapon.
you will see that you have to do corrections. (not in manually mode, maybe i am too old to handle that one :P)
the ship did`t do the full turn to the cursor, it stops about 15 - 20 degrees before it.
omg...i hope you understand that what i mean.  ;D

3. maybe secrets? anomalies to scan, rare enemies to find with good loot.
i have no idea how difficult it is to give a ship a specific colour, but would be great if rare enemies have another one.

4. hehe ok. maybe i just should remember then wich chest i looted :P

5. don`t missunderstand that please. i like difficult games!
but when i kill a heavy enemy and just get 20 2d ore...mmmh
when i know the reward is great, the risk is worth it.
maybe just 1 time, that it`s not farmable, becouse that ship comes always back.

6. ok great! the fear is from another game...you guys know how to do it ;)

7. hm ok, but is you make a upgrade, tool, or booster that costs maybe 300.000 credits, it`s nothing i can buy at the beginning and i have to
make money by farming for it. so i stay longer in game with a target.
maybe speak about it, just a hint.

8. where does spicing up begins and frustration ends? :P
open the map about 50 times, bumping in nearby every thing hehe
zooming further away would be less depressive ;)

9. ah! ok, nuff said! ;)

10. good idea!

and a last question: do boosters stack,
when i buy 4 times the fuel reduction in the sience station?

vielen dank ;)
( it takes maybe an hour now to repost with brainstorming and remembering all the english words i learned YEARS ago and a dictionary, but i better answer in english ;) )

Hi! Seems, like a habit already:))) Ok, let's do it again

2. well... okay :D
3. We are thinking about ships colors and, actually, about a possibility to manually set the skins for ships. To give players a possibility to make their own skins. It sounds exciting, but we need an implementation plan first. Anyway, idea is already there, I hope we will be able to do it. Secrets? Maybe.
5. Hm, does it happen too often?
7. Ok, I'll. say it more clear. NO. :D No upgrades. Forget it. It's just not possible. We'll think about adding an expensive ITEM, but that's all we can do.
8. Well, yeah, it is so. About zooming out - we don't have an IRIS engine, or whatever name it has. The one from Wargame Red Dragon. Zoom has its measures.

Ok, boosters. Now they are not stacking, but this is a bug and they will stack in a new version. We fixed it.

Well, cya, come again! Anyway, my German is worse, than your English.

It's a chest of coins, actually! :)
Ok, let's do it.

1. It's good to know it!
2. Well, you can bind tracking guns to different mouse button and shoot fixed and trackers separately. That is the only reasonable way.
3. What do you suggest? What are you missing most?
4. No. There should be the chance of empty chest, for spicing up your life.
5. Ok. Imagine a game with no effort needed. How long will you stay there?
6. You can backup your saves. But no duplication or other tricks are possible.  I could also say, that we have implemented a saves protection system, so don't worry about it.
7. Yep, upgrades are cool. But in current game architecture we find universal slots inconsistent. And in a close future in won't change.
8. See the part about spicing up your life and efforts:) It is not an incredibly tough task and it changes your gameplay for some time. So - just go for it.
9. Let's start from the end. Mining mission means mining ship, I presume. We would fix it if there were no other way to solve the problem and if it was a blocker. But it is not. So, just be flexible and creative. Repeating quests - well, we'll think about it, sounds quite interesting. Especially when there is a possibility to play after finishing the game.
10. Yeah, I just had an idea to discuss adding some little fuel to the loot crates. Will see, what colleagues say.

Danke, und viele Gruesse zu Osterreich! ;)

Im just starting out and Ive decided on that first big slow rust bucket of a freighter that hauls 450 cargo. I love to mine. But it doesn't fight well and runs out of energy. Can anyone give me and others starting out some idea on good starting ships to keep a while and upgrade and where to buy perhaps? Though that last part seems kinda random.
Well, try to use some common things - move to high-tech system, farm a bit, get you a new ship. Isn't it interesting to discover things by yourself? ;)

I have many games in my head that are still to be made and this is one of them come to life! Its like a combo of S.P.A.Z. , Space Rangers 2, and Privateer. WOW. I bought it fast as I could.
...
I know Im going to LOVE it...I already do just from videos! Thanks so much for taking a chance and making a new type of game thats not just a simple game with a 2 or a 3 added to the end of the name.

Hi, Dae! We felt very similarly to you when we created our game! Space Rangers 2 was our main inspiration along with many other Sci-Fi works. But that's just the beginning, we really hope that the game does well on steam which would enable us to continue working on it.

Still not played because for some reason this website is really really slow. It takes me over 30 seconds to go from page to page and the downloader took 20 minutes to get 2% then died on me. Still trying. If anyone knows any help Id appreciate it..thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that. Can you check again now? If everything is clear and works properly at your side, just try to DL the game again - we rebooted server just in case and made some minor rearrangements.
If it still doesn't go properly - then please use the web trace tools such as http://network-tools.com/ and send us those reports. This will tell us why it was slow and if it was us or some other network at fault. We need to know, where the problem is.
