No, it's crash related to Mono, something internal... it's not noted in logs, because log file closing before crash message.

Was on the server this morning, and was having fun. It was running smooth. No latency or rubberbanding issues noticed during nearly 2 hours of gameplay.

It's using 1.3gb ram atm and 5% cpu on idle... which seems normal for the latest versions.
I have not had the chance to play yet so no idea what the server will do when there are people on.

A freshly run server only uses 500mb ram though

So far CPU and mem consumption seem normal again, around 5% cpu and 570mb RAM. I haven't played yet on Kunix as I updated it late last night and then went to bed :) Will keep you updated

I'm running it on a VM now and using the internet address: kunix.org makes it so that sometimes it's available and sometimes not... very odd.

Also please note that there are new variable in the server config:

(default was 0, changed it to 1 now for the future versions).

It seems that the new "dedicated" feature is broken. Will fix in the next release.
mmmm not as good as that turbo build you gave me.
mem is now at 355 and will now I think stabilize at around 430 and cpu is 8% idle instead of the 3-5%
In the turbo build the ram stabilized at 380 and cpu at 3-5% idle
I see... yes, is not so turbo, as some optimizations may involve instability. We will implement them in the next build after further testing.
About memory usage - it seems to be too high. Normally it should be around 200 Mb if you create a new world or ~170Mb if you load a savegame. What version of Linux do you have?

About memory usage - I still haven't not found a way to do it on Linux, but on Windows you just need to use the 32-bit Mono, so the game will run in 32-bit environment and use 50% less memory than in 64-bit... Now the only way to use 32-bit Mono on Linux is to use 32-bit Linux I think...

cpu was at around 4% idle, ram at around 300mb... i PM'ed you some more information.
I went back to hosting VE on the main machine as I couldn't get the ports forwarded correctly, issue of my router.
Ok, we will improve it soon.

Some stats for AI - with 1 person on it jumped from lets say 2% cpu to 12%.
Agreed we need to test it with more people but I don't see it happening right now.

Server is indeed pretty dead at the moment. I hope this will change once the game is fully released on Steam.
The server is hosted on a half defective Dell XPS l702x with 8GB Ram and i7-2630QM processor.
It's running ubuntu 14.04 server.
Ram usage is pretty low - around 300-500mb but CPU usage is still on the high side. About 22% cpu with 2 players. AI will tweak this once he has more data, I'm not worried at all.
Ok thanks iam thinking that i could create server too. ( at work i have (4years) old xeon with 90gigs ram so i was curios for this)

Totally agree - Before I was updating the server there was someone on kunix and I saw that the cpu was spiking at 80% sometimes... kinda got me worried.
And world saving is taking a long time, atleast the writing of the files is

awesome, I do know that due the server software not having multithreading that the cpu is starting to get capped (50% at 4 players) so I wonder how it will be.

Linux server version is running crap on kunix - will be switching over to my windows VM today, I hope that will fix the silly issues.

I was reading through past chatlogs and saw some complaints about choppyness - and the world saving taking 8 seconds - seems it's the same on my Windows VM so I think this is related to my server =( nothing you can help with

Server froze on me when I unleashed my lasers on one of those ships guarding an alien relic.

Tis a sad for the kunix server - the savegame has corrupted and I can't load the backup either...
A new world has been generated and the server is up again - this week I will put in place a separate backup procedure for the savegame.

Just a note guys. We will be releasing an update (not very soon, but we will 100%) that would improve stability and resolve quite a few of these tiny pesky bugs.
I have some issues with party's.
When I invite my friend to a party he doesn't show up in my list but some random guy.
Also I get all of his exp and he gets none :P (It's a featureΓäó)
Is something like that already adressed, or should I get on reporting?

Don't worry, we keep a list of all reported bugs and some of them are already fixed, while others will be addressed soon and be a part of the update as well.

It would be a bit difficult without specific reports for each problem, but I guess it would never hurt to look at the error messages at least.

So it's basically the last few logs that are the most important. With the bundled launcher on Kunix the server crashes after a while.
Using mono to launch the server doesn't make it crash but I noticed that after a while the garbage collection hits above 1k and then you get the symptoms P0ki said. Server becomes choppy and sluggish until a restart of the VE server is done.

Unfortunately, currently it's not possible - because most IP addresses doesn't have correct PTR record for the reverse DNS lookup. So, in your case:

We can improve it in the next builds of VE and Master Server. You will need to specify kunix.org in the config file.
The server will resolve the host name and if the IP address is matched with the IP of the server network connection to Master Server, then the host name from the config file will be used instead of the IP address.

kyokei, well, I've already done it for the next version :-).
It will also improve the servers list by displaying the public server domain names instead of IP addresses (if the server domain name is set in the settings file). Will be helpful for CryoFall as well.

From what I understand the server application can be compiled to be linux compatible even now. It's the client side that we want to have some extra work done on before releasing the linux and mac versions, but don't quote me on this. ai_enabled would be able to explain this better :)

After being online for many years it's time to retire the VoidExpanse kunix server.
I'm going to decommission my server so I won't be able to host anything anymore.
I will post again with the final date once I have it!
