Bug reports / Iron pickaxe better then Steel one.

Yep, you need 14 chops with Steel pickaxe to harvest Iron ore and only 10 chops with Iron pickaxe.

There is no such problem with Axes (7 chops for Iron and 5 for Steel), but I can't say that there is any difference between hammers =(

Hello! Here will be structurized post with my more or less obvious suggestions. Of course I understand that some of them may be already planned, and I don't demand to do anything from this list asap, I also understand that all of them can be simply ignored due to different reasons.

Weapons:

Bows and Crossbows for those who want to RP in Rembo style, or just anyone with will to survive in the world where animals can really kill =)

Explosives. TNT, C4, or just cans with gunpowder and nails.

May be an stone spear for those who likes closer combat but still want to kip distance from his foes.

Durability system for weapons and armor.

Crafting and gathering:

I suggest to reduce chance of Coal drop from stones and replace Charcoal in Steel recipe with Coal. It will make more sense cause from Coal you can make Coke(Chark) that is usually used in metallurgy. Or, you can give us ability to swap between Charcoal and Coal in recipes.

May be ability to craft some recipes "outside" after you build workbench/lab but with penalty to outcome and bonus when you use proper workbench/lab.

Durability system for tools.

Testing:

After polishing crafting system and killing remaining bugs in current and future builds we will need to test weapons and armors in PvP and PvE.
I suggest you to make separate server with custom settings:
Every player will respawn for the first time with huge amount of bullets which we need to test (or all of them) and weakest gun (flintstock pistol). To get better gun player must get some amount of kills. After getting needed amount of kills with best weapon player must get knife or fist kill to win the round. Basicly, it is well known gun race mod implemented in CS and BF3.
For PvE we can start "Safari" server with similar rules, but, instead of player kills, tester must kill animals/monsters.

Using this simple game mod we can collect lot of usefull data about balance between weapons and armors. For example:
weapons using paper cartridges are doing too small amount of damage regarding effort you need to make to create them, but it can help you to afflict damage from distance, while other early stage weapon with better DPS are only for close combat. Also we need to know how fast must be weapons reloading, how far they can be effective e.t.c.

Gameplay:

Exploring world is awesome and will be interesting, but we need some threat that force players to find cover to take rest and heal their injures.
It will be great to have weather and daytime changing system. For now our campfire is almost useless(I understand that it'll be more usefull in bigger world), but we can give it great role as source of heat and light, campfire also can scare some night creatures. Of course during nightime can be usefull flashlights, torches and nightvision helmets/glasses.
Some of the nights can be really dark and dangerous, some of them can be beautyfull and safe for explorers.

Sleeping in sleeping bags. Characters can have fatigue parameter that prevents their stamina from restoration. To lower fatigue you need to sleep or drink some energizer (lot of them can give debuff lowering total stamina and health).

Pickpocketing. Way to take something from another character without killing him. IT can be possible if you managed to find not protected offline player or when you force him to kneel.

Self defence in offline. Ability to give your character order to attack/backfire every intruders and robbers. It will work only if you don't ask your avatar to sleep while you are offline. It can be usefull for players without strong sentry system and players on travel. Online player still will have a chance to kill offline one, but it will take a lot more effort.

Some global threat. May be even bunch of them to choose from. For example you have a server with huge asteroid approaching and you need to find a way to save yourselfe or everyone. And there is another server where strange virus affecting all plants and you need to find a cure cause without them every life on planet is doomed.

Bug reports / Wielding invisible tools.

Some times, after switching to axe or knife you can see empty hands in frontal character view and only part of the tool when character faced in other directions. Pressing LMB or switching to another tool can fix that.






But if you use only "LMB method" tool texture will get through opposite hand texture.

Bug reports / New bugged launcher 0.7.1.0???

UPD. That was problem with my mod configs. Sorry for bothering, pls delete/close this topic ;)

Today I was finally got to my computer to test some VE mods. When I started your launcher it autoupdated to 0.7.1 version.

What was my surprise when I saw that I can't use base mod(core). I simply can't activate it via launcher. I tryed to reinstall game, delete every mod, reinstall everething, download new launcher - no results.

I can try to make mod with everething from core archive but it is not a right solution.

Bug reports / [0.9.9]Pirates with perfect tan and more.

1. Strange pirates.
Every time I create new game universe there is some system with crazy pirates that most of all love to stay under sun radiation.

2. How rescue somebody without exeting your home!
Once again I was taked Kidnappers quest in new game.

But for the first time I decide to shoot some pirates by the way to quest point. What was my amazement wnen game told me that I picked up hostage after 2nd looted pirate. As a result quest completed without traveling even some parsecs from base.

3. Combat reward system.
Please give us exp reward for damage done, not for lust hit. Situations when you blow up enemy rockets close to their ships and get no reward after they die in that explosion really annoying.

For english speakers:

Hello, here I'll try to explain my vision of what kind of ships should be in game based on standart(common) space ships classification(spacesims, rts, naval, e.t.c.).
But, first of all, I need to thank you dev's for all great work you already done. Even now game looks awesome and eats your time while playing like langoliers  ;) Remind me old good SR.
Now to work:
1. Game should start from fighters/corvettes, not frigates, even small ones. When you can run to top ship class (cruiser) just for one day - not good.
2. Ships named in game frigates looks and feels like corvettes.
3. There should be separate ship classes for civils like cargo ships (small, medium, big), passenger liners and others.
4. You need to add more civilian npc like it was in SR: diplomats, liners, may be some freelancers. You can add some trade corporations as factions for traders. Also would be nice to see some police officers scanning your cargo for some illegal goods and fighting pirates.
Something about multiplayer:
1. Would be great if you give us server with map as big as it possible (at least double size of maximum map in single player).
2. If you guys make possible to create own clans/factions/corporations ΓÇô game can attract some big clans like Chaos, The Wolves, Insane, North Bears, e. t. c. Especially if they can fight for systems colonization and build there their own stations.
3. I believe that Void Expanse can be more than just good SR heir. Your game can kill EVE someday, if you donΓÇÖt stop development and choose right way.

Здравствуйте, в этом топике я попробую изложить своё видение того какие классы кораблей должны быть в игре основываясь на общепринятой классификации космических кораблей (космосимы, стратегии, флот и т.п.).
Но, сперва, хотел бы поблагодарить разработчиков за всю ту замечательную работу уже проделанную ими на данный момент. Даже сейчас игра выглядит замечательно и пожирает моё время во время игры прямо как лангольеры ;) Напомнило мне старых добрых КР.
Приступим:
1. Хотелось бы начинать игру с истребителей/корветов, но никак не фрегатов, пусть даже малых. Не лучший вариант когда игрок может дойти до сильнейшего класса (крейсеры) всего за один день.
2. Корабли которые вы назвали в игре фрегатами, более походят на корветы. По своим характеристикам и огневой мощи они даже не приближаются к фрегатам.
3. Хотелось бы видеть в игре отдельные классы гражданских кораблей таких как грузовые корабли, пассажирские лайнеры и другие.
4. Следует добавить больше гражданских npc по примеру тех же КР: дипломаты, лайнеры, может какие-либо вольнонаёмники. Так же неплохо было бы видеть полицейских сканирующих ваш груз на предмет контрабанды у прыжковых ворот и сражающихся с пиратами.
Немного про мультиплеер:
1. Было бы замечательно если вы запустите сервер с картой большой на столько, на сколько это вообще возможно (хотя бы в два раза больше максимальной из одиночного режима).
2. Если вы дадите игрокам возможность создавать кланы/фракции/корпорации – в игру могут прийти большие кланы такие как Хаос, Волки, Инсейны, Северные мишки и т.д. Особенно если они смогут сражаться за системы, колонизировать их и застраивать своими станциями.
3. Я верю в то что Void Expanse может стать большим чем просто хороший наследник КР. В один прекрасный день ваша игра убьёт «Еву» если вы не остановитесь на достигнутом и выберете верный путь.
