So, this can only be achieved by mods but if you have a combined -100% to turning then the ship becomes completely unable to turn at all. Which is kind of game breaking since you can't even return to the station.

This was achieved by someone using a mod with a ship that had -90 and added my cargo pods which added another -10. I think that there should be some checks to make sure that is some minimal turning ability even at numbers at or greater than 100%

So, I'm digging on the new hackable loot caches scattered around the galaxy. However, the loot from the old stashes (the ones guarded by a heavy cruiser and has a single alien artifact) is a bit underwhelming considering it's a lot harder to get (have to beat the ship).

Perhaps it would be a good idea to add more to that stash.

Servers / Re: How much of an impact does ping have?

Thanks, turned out to not be an issue. there was a US server that just happened to be down the first time I looked.

Servers / How much of an impact does ping have?
June 27, 2015, 03:59:13 PM
I'm thinking of hopping onto one of the servers but most of them seem quite far. The ones I'm interested have a ping in the mid 200s. Is that functional or will I be losing clicks and rubberbanding around?

Great work. I like just about everything you've done here.

You might want to reduce the trade xp. I spent a few hours doing trading and I now have way more levels from trade xp than anything else (level 54. Been doing pretty much just mining and trading from level 21 or so).

Ok, thanks. good to know it's all working properly.

So, I *think* this is a bug. Under my industry skills list there is only mining. I was under the impression that there was a new set of skills for trading. there is also only one set of skills under social (but that might be right, not sure).

I do run a bunch of mods so maybe I'll disable them all and start a new game and see if that makes a difference.

About trading ships... That would probably require some big codechanges, as we cannot even "carry" them in
our cargohold, and if we could, then we all would surely have at least three, one big, slow trader,
one fast agile hunter and one ship that can do a bit of both hunting and trading.

Then, as needed, we just switch at the next station if a quest or a system is too difficult or something like that.
That would kinda ruin the gamemechanics, would you not agree?

I don't see it requiring a log of code to change. In fact there's just probably a check somewhere during the item transfer event that checks specifically if it's a hull and disallows the transfer to your ships hold.

If not it would get trickier but still relatively simple. You could add in a "packer" that transforms hulls into a ship "item" that could be later used to "unpack" a regular hull in another system.

It's not something that I care about either way. I have hulls stashed all over the galaxy and enough cash to pick up any hull I want at any time.

One of my favorite games of all time. Sentinel Worlds: Future Magic :)

Ah, nice to meet another fan. I really think that a game with both the space combat of void expanse and the ground combat based on SW could really be something we haven't seen in a while.

I'm wondering if you ever played the game "Sentinel Worlds". The game was an RPG that had sort of two types of gameplay. A top Down space exploration/combat (surprise you already have that !) and then you could land on asteroids, stations and/or planets and you'd get a top down view of your party. Your party had equipment. Some of it helped fly the ship but some of it was melee or ranged weapons. Sometimes you'd land in a hostile environment and have to fight  your way through (typical of RPGS)

There was a story to play through but  you could just fly around and land on a planet or asteroids and just find some old tunnels/ruins/alien nests to battle through.

You've got a huge chunk of it done already. You'd have to expand the "character" to be 2-6 characters each with their own skill tree and possibly special abilities. The skill tree itself would have to be expanded to include ground combat skills and, or course, you'd have it implement the actual ground based gameplay.

This idea lets you leverage what you've already built. If you have procedurally generated ground "dungeons" you could extend the gameplay without having to create each individual ground "area"

where on your computer is void expanse installed?

That's weird, when I go to the galaxy map I still have color shading denoting faction systems.

In the galaxy map if you hover your mouse cursor over a system it will list the asteroid density and any stations that are in there (in addition to tech level and aggression level)

Mods / Re: MOD - AURA Co-pilot Voice

Probably, but it's only a problem if the enforce that copyright and I'm not sure if a non-profit mod isn't considered fair use. I think, and I'm no lawyer, the only ones that have to worry about it are whoever hosts it. In this case steam.

It's possible that the modder could get in trouble if he posts it on the nexus since it specifically has a portion where you have to "swear" that this mod is you own work and not based on work owned by another entity. If he made that claim it could be considered fraud but as it neither hurt EVE nor profited him/her, I'm not sure what the damages would be.
