Cannot start game on Debian Linux
« on: April 27, 2015, 12:50:55 pm »
Hi. I just brought and installed VoidExpanse on Steam, but I cannot start it. I have Debian 8.0, last upgraded just a few minutes ago on a Lenovo Thinkpad x220 laptop with i5 and Sandy Bridge graphics, which should be well above minimum requirements. The game displays blue slash screen for a few seconds, then stops, and I get this very very non-informative console output:

Code: [Select]
fafler@x220:~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse$ ./VoidExpanse.x86_64
Set current directory to /home/fafler/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse
Found path: /home/fafler/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse/VoidExpanse.x86_64
Mono path[0] = '/home/fafler/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse/VoidExpanse_Data/Managed'
Mono path[1] = '/home/fafler/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse/VoidExpanse_Data/Mono'
Mono config path = '/home/fafler/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse/VoidExpanse_Data/Mono/etc'
displaymanager : xrandr version warning. 1.4
client has 2 screens
displaymanager screen (0)(LVDS1): 1366 x 768
Using libudev for joystick management

Importing game controller configs
fafler@x220:~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/VoidExpanse$

The only thing that actually works is steam, telling me my brother is playing VoidExpanse :-/

1 - can a mod move this to the help section

2 - What GPU does it have? which drivers are you using? if it's an intel, have you installed the proprietary drivers?

3 - can you upload the logs somewhere for the devs?
