Ideas and suggestions / Re: Keyboard-only option?
March 28, 2015, 02:59:34 PM
I don't know if one exists but look for hulls that have fixed laser mounts on them. They don't follow the mouse cursor and fire straight ahead. If one doesn't exist to your liking, you could always mod one of the existing hulls to make one (Or someone will at some point perhaps; I expect to see MANY variations on the ships created as mods when the game is released).

Another alternative could be a hull with stationary laser mounts and mines also. I believe there is already a hull with this configuration in game.

You can also remap keyboard keys to fire primary, secondary, and tertiary weapons fire.

I was just able to connect to the Master Server so I believe it's working. It still looks like something on your side is blocking the connection attempt.

Irdanium for Melak Save game: link (https://www.dropbox.com/s/iss041v003vkiyc/slot_5_irdanium_for_melak.zip?dl=0)

Let me try to explain it another way. Normally when you're in the Journal and you click on on "Show Map", the galaxy map is displayed and the target system for that mission is highlighted in yellow and a route is plotted to that system. I expected to be able to do this also for this mission.

In this case the target system is Ketkalana. When you click on "Show Map" it attempts to plot a route to the system but it fails. It displays this error (http://i.imgur.com/k1fgNNy.png). The Ketkalana system has a Red Circle around it and it says "No Access" in red letters (http://i.imgur.com/AzduaUI.png).

As a workaround I can route to the system adjacent to it (http://i.imgur.com/XwrLkpQ.png), Caregi, instead. Once I'm in Caregi, I locate the jump gate for Ketkalana and I manually jump there so I can finish the mission.

This is actually very similar to another bug I reported here also: link (http://forums.atomictorch.com/index.php?topic=462.0). They both have to do with the end systems of the game. I don't believe this is the intended behavior but I could be wrong.

One more bug I've found is a display issue with a particular nebula background. Video (https://www.dropbox.com/s/7iix4l1ag29sbfc/ve-nebula-changes.mp4?dl=0). When you cross the outer edge of the system it changes slightly. I have background nebulas set to "Some". I haven't tried different settings yet.

Use [R] to target them.

I might have a few more. I'm finishing up the Fanatics quest line and noticed this so far.

There are spoilers ahead.

Artifacts for Melak
It has you collecting 15 alien relics of a specific type. In the quest log (and I think the dialogue with the NPC also) it describes the relic as "rectangular shape with carvings and a small spherical module" which I think is incorrect. It should be "circular" instead of "rectangular" as shown here (http://i.imgur.com/NLlBJBX.png).

Also once you have 15 of the right artifact there's no indication in the text or map of where to take them. It'd be helpful to add to the quest log the station and system where Melak is or have the quest update with a destination marker.

Something you can verify as well is that I've noticed all alien artifacts have a type "StaticObject". I'm not sure if that was meant to be shown or not. Video (https://www.dropbox.com/s/z4tfsyhrp9y4lrq/ve-artifact-staticobjects.mp4?dl=0)

Irdanium for Melak
When you receive this quest it has a show map button. When clicked it tries to build a route to a system (Ketkalana) that is one jump away from the Xengatarn home system (Cosracar) PIC (http://i.imgur.com/PfNR9Pc.png). But the Ketkalana system indicates No access and it won't let me build the route. I can however manually click on Caregi next to it and build a route to that system. From there I can jump into Ketkalana manually.

Once I find the asteroid and mine the mineral, there's a related bug. The quest target changes to the Fanatic capital system, but the routing doesn't work now if I try any outside system. If I jump to the adjacent system (outside of the current No Access system), then I can route again. Poorly encoded video here! (https://www.dropbox.com/s/memfhsg2is46atf/ve-irdanium-for-malek.mp4?dl=0)

Unwilling Enemies
Same as above. System isn't accessible. Can't route to it but I can jump to it from adjacent systems. Video here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/uct0r6q3gavj6re/ve-unwilling-enemies-bug.mp4?dl=0).

I also have a Noesis crash that I can reproduce but only with 1 saved game that I have so it might be something unique in there. video (https://www.dropbox.com/s/mtc1enopgyfcg9e/ve-autopilot-crash.mp4?dl=0) pic (http://i.imgur.com/ADuT9hq.png) saved-game (https://www.dropbox.com/s/1q54ipjlhr7htr9/ve_slot_5_click_autopilot_to_crash.zip?dl=0) dump (https://www.dropbox.com/s/hpid5va2qenpx4d/ve-autopilot-crash-Dumps.zip?dl=0)

  • It's quick to do. Load the game.
  • Go to Galaxy map with [N].
  • Click on "Autopilot" button.

New game+ doubles your experience points.
When you start a new game+, you regain all your levels after your first kill and also get all the experience points again.

  • Finish the game.
  • Load the finish game and start a new game+. Your character is level 1.
  • Kill a pirate.
  • You regain all your levels and experience points.

Game version: 1.1.3c
Game mode: Single Player
Bug Location: Space
Steps to Reproduce:

  • Fly to an area of space where you have a fixed container (one that has/had an alien artifact).
  • Destroy a ship nearby so it drops a loot container.
  • Grapple the loot container but don't collect it. You need to drag it towards the fixed container but move your ship so that it keeps the container too far away to collect. I suggest a zig-zag.
  • Fly near the fixed container but again, not close enough to collect it.
  • Grapple the fixed container with "F" and you'll have 2 active grapple beams.
Reproduction Rate: 100%
Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/Jp4lltY.png
Bug Description: This may be intended behavior. However, I don't think it is. You can initiate a second grapple beam while one is already active. If you already have a container inventory screen up and allow the first container to be collected, the second grapple will force it to close and open a new container inventory screen for the first container.

I've updated to 1.1.3c and this still happens.

Until they publish a new version, you can try these instead.

5555 - This will only use the first 4 real cores.
FFFF - This will use the first 4 real cores and the first 4 hyper-threaded cores.

ai_enabled is saying that the code has problems with more than 8 threads. So you can limit it to either 4 or 8 with these values.

There must be a Hex number for selecting only the 16 real cores.. but I am not smart enough to find it out and do not have enough patience to try them all :)

Here's something you can try Tristan. If you have 32 cores (16 real and 16 hyperthreaded) they should be alternating.

The Hexadecimal for 10101010101010101010101010101010 is AAAAAAA (http://i.imgur.com/oFVxzEu.png).
The Hexadecimal for 01010101010101010101010101010101 is 55555555 (http://i.imgur.com/3iJOMlT.png).

From what I'm reading the value to AVOID the hyper-threaded cores should be '55555555' (That's 8 5's). You can try both of these values in your shortcut though.

The calculator I used is here: http://www.mathsisfun.com/binary-decimal-hexadecimal-converter.html.

Lol haha how did you even found that haha. Thanks guys for the advice haha.... Have a nice day :)
Edit: I never hijacked any account. I just registered it before anyone else...

So that part at the end where you mention giving the account away for free but knowing the security questions and recovery email is for what reason? If you give the email away, why would you need to access it again?

Ransoming email addresses and then keeping ways to take them back doesn't sound shady to you at all? Or perhaps you were planning to sell it and then after you got your money you could reset the password and take it back? I highly doubt your intentions were ever honest dude.

Irgrek or Ergrek?

Something I've noticed is that the ancient alien race is spelled two different ways in many(!) parts of the game. Check this picture (http://i.imgur.com/ihuvyGw.png) to see in the conversation it's spelled "Irgrek" but in the buttons on the right side it is spelled "Ergreks".

I don't know which spelling is "right" as that is up to you guys. It should be a simple search all and replace to fix hopefully. I have more changes coming for the Fanatics though so I'd like to know which you are going with.

Xengatarnian?

Oh, there also in that picture it has "Xengatarnian?" which I don't think I've seen anywhere else. Usually I think it's just Xengatarn, i.e. "the Xengatarn artifact"

Artifact/Artefact

I've found both spellings in the game. Both are actually correct, but you should settle on using one consistently throughout the game.

I have more for the Fanatics on the way...

I suggest 'V'.  It should only do anything while docked. No response if in space.

I've been playing shorter games to not encounter it lately and finish the Freedom faction ending. I'll generate some more logs for you though and post them.

Edit: Here's a log from a crash tonight (link (https://www.dropbox.com/s/06elfev3zh7n6tu/Logs-crash-02.zip?dl=0)). I had just jumped into a system and encountered a pirate near the jumpgate. It crashed during the first firing exchange.

Game version: 1.0.4
Game mode: Single Player
Bug Location: Galaxy Map
Steps to Reproduce: N/A
Reproduction Rate: N/A
Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/qaGc4mp.png
Bug Description: The Freedom faction quest line ends in a Xengatarn system. When you're outside of this system you can't select it in the Galaxy map screen in order to chart a course to it. Instead you get an error message "Selected Star System is currently inaccessible."

Also when you hover over it, the popup displays "No Access" in red letters.

However if you travel to an adjacent system, you can manually jump into it. So it is accessible and it needs to be accessible to complete the game  ;D. This doesn't stop you from finishing the game since manual jumping works.

http://i.imgur.com/ARFan0g.png (I'm in Costan Theta.)

There is also another bug that I believe is directly related to this one so I will add it here. When you are inside of this "exit system" you also cannot chart a course to any other system on the Galaxy map screen. There are no error messages.

When you click on another system, it will highlight with the revolving yellow reticle but no path will be drawn and the "autopilot" button does not appear. Also the current system you're in (Costan Theta in this case) is not highlighted as well. You have to manually jump to an adjacent system and then you can use the autopilot and chart a course normally.

I have a game save I can upload if you need to test it.
