Is the mod support getting to where it's fairly static now then ?

Sounds good tho, I'll update and give it a play ^.^

*edit* Nice "Incompatible" image across my save :3  Figured as much, but worth a shot ^.^
Time for a diff build,  did fighter last game.  lvl 118.

It should be, yes. I don't think there will be any major changes before the release, so, feel free to safely tinker with the game now :)

Nifty, it'll be a bit before I can tinker tho,  have dev project on commission atm so can't say I'm looking to do more code for fun just now.
Hopefully others will take that as a queue to get going tho :3

Come on ppl, I know you're out there.  Nothing to say about the patch >:

So far, can't say I've ran into anything worth note in the patch.  I shoot things and they explode.  All as would be expected thus far :3

Congrats on getting everything ready for the steam release! Everything is looking good.   :D Any plans on adding Steam Workshop support for the mods? I have no idea what that entails (and I'm sure it'd a be good bit of work), but it would be such a boon for the modding community on this game.

I mentioned that somewhere before, but essentially we'd like to add it, but it will definitely not happen until after the release, otherwise we'd have to push the release even further.

I updated the first post with the list of changes from the last v1.0.2 update. Still experimental, but if you feel like it - give it a try. The main thing is the achievements. And if everything is well that will be the last version we release until after Steam launch. But we will not introduce any new features until the Steam release, only bug fixes if needed.

Anyway to revert back while keeping my old previous save file to a stable version didn't realize I could no longer connect to the US server at patching to latest experimental build. Is my character saved server side so just reinstall perhaps?

Sure, you can downgrade with our game launcher or just by downloading previous version from our website - it's still there.
About the game server - we are updating it only when releasing a new stable version... anyway, soon we plan to stop hosting official public server, as we get more public servers hosted by the community, and we can't host enough capacity for thousands of Steam users who will purchase our game. The official public server with only 64 player slots was there only for testing during the alpha phase...

Ahhh ok guess I may as well just play single player with experimental in mean while then so hard to say when a reliable public server will crop up at this point in time. It would be nice if you could use your single player saves some how for host or client in the future even if you could only partially use portions of them due to the random seeding aspect of creating a single player or hosted game.

If I understand you right, it's already implemented - you can use savegame from the multiplayer server in singleplayer game and vice versa. You just need to copy it from multiplayer server saves folder to the singleplayer saves folder.
Regards!

Happen to know what default file locations are for these? That would be helpful to know.

The location of all dynamic game data is "<your documents>\AtomicTorchStudio\VoidExpanse". But the "Saves_Multiplayer" placed inside the server folder (near executable).
Maybe I didn't understand you correctly... but you can't get world save file from the remove multiplayer server. So if you wish to get it, you need to ask the server administrator to send you a world save (if he/she allow it).

Quick question about game versions and saved games. I updated from 1.01 to 1.04, my saved game is incompatible. Now I do understand that as the game is patched the saves wont work because of some of the newly implemented features, however is that going to happen any time there is a new patch even for bug fixes?
Title: Re: VoidExpanse - Patch notes v1.0.x
Post by: Lurler on February 11, 2015, 08:58:53 PM
Yes, since the game is actively changing (and frankly, due to our poor choice of saving format) when we make some significant changes to the game it sometimes makes the saves incompatible. But when the game is properly released it shouldn't happen anymore since we won't be making such groundbreaking changes to the core structure of the game. Or we might change the save format that will fix this issues once and for all.

VoidExpanse v1.0.8 (experimental) is available now for Windows. The patch notes will be added to this topic tomorrow. Now you can play and guess what's new and what's fixed, huh :-). Hint: it's super-optimized and includes Unity 5 physics-based shading.
