Hi there! I would highly appreciate an offline raiding protection and your ideas sound very reasonable to me.
For me, it would be the most frustrating event in a game, when i loose all of my stuff and if it would not be my fault. Make my base disappear because of an offline raid is a nightmare! I prefer this feature even over the faction system.
IMHO the central aspects are (you mention these already):

  • protection should be limited in time
  • protection should cost resources or effort
  • so that SHIELD should not deny raids at all
Of course, this feature will 'soften up' PvP a bit, but i think it will make the game more fun to the majority of players.

Some small wishes:

  • dont deny actions like building in their base during SHIELD. So the player can do something useful while waiting for the activation.
  • what whould happen if the SHIELD is active and I use a crowbar to open a wall? This should deactivate the shield
  • SHIELD protection effectiveness should be a server config, so that admins could disable the feature (as you mentioned)

I suggest a penalty/debuff for clothing that does not fit the biome.


  • you should not go into the desert with Fur clothing
  • and not strive with with Cloth Armor into the cold north

The penalty could be

  • more thirst when overheated
  • slower movement or reduced aiming ability when not well protected from cold

I suggest that players can place (at least one) marker on the map. The direction of that marker is then shown at the corresponding side/edge of the screen.

That is why:

  • Players often go long distances to reach an area with needed resources (pragmium, lithium salt and so on). Now you have to check repeatedly the map to see if you are still in the right direction.
  • It helps players to remember particular points of interest, like ruins

further ideas

  • the map arrow (at the screen sides) could indicate the distance
  • more than one marker would be nice. Maybe you can choose from a set of different symbols (wanted claim location, minerals, target)
  • you can use markers to outline a route. When reaching a marker, the next becomes active and so on
  • target marker could be visible to party members, so that i can point easily to an interesting destination

@ai_enabled: Thank you, for your explanation. I understand that the complete damage- or protection formula is too much details and hard to understand. Other games do not provide such either. But i think most of the players would agree:
There sohuld be a possibility to estimate the damage type and amount a weapon does.

Idea: This can be for instance a "star-rating" or "percent-bar" or a "damage per second" comparison value. These values dont have to be exact - it would be sufficient if they achieve a comparison.

I am looking forward to see such a feature :)

Ideas and suggestions / Improve Map

The map feature is quite okay, but can be improved. I suggest:

  • show biome according to mouse position in the down left info area: name, danger-level, sub-biomes
  • the colors are hard to differentiate. Maybe provide a biome-chooser/selector which highlights the selected biomes
  • show the tier of a ruin in the info area
  • provide switches for the map icons (oil, lithium, vendors)

@mav: Thank you for your reply. I have installed the mod - it is great!
But I think, these features should be integrated into the (vanilla) game - or the mod should be bundled with the game client.

The Wiki at https://cryofall.gamepedia.com/CryoFall_Wiki (https://cryofall.gamepedia.com/CryoFall_Wiki) provides valueable info for CryoFall. I have contributed some articles and corrections myself.
But it would be more pleasing if there where more icons/images to use in articles. There are so many items without graphics!  :(

So please upload more images for buildings/items/material. :D

I propose to show the amount of damage a weapon does: as a tooltip over the weapon:

  • in the inventory
  • at the  tech-page
and provide additional info:

  • type of damage
  • range
  • accuracy/spreading
  • ammo usage

Thats why:

  • There is no info available (forum, wiki, ingame) what a weapon is used for and no option to compare them
  • Weapons are expensive to learn and to build. Now, I have to guess, what weapon suits me best
  • In Short: choosing the next weapon can be frustraiting
  • Feature should be easy to implement

@ai_enabled: Please also provide a bat/cmd to stop the server. The Copy&Paste 'stop 60 Here goes the text' action is not very user friendly.

In case my watering can is empty, I can refill it at a Water Collector or just use it (while not at a Water Collector).
In the latter case, water is taken from "Bottle of Pure Water" in my inventory.
But by refilling at a Water Collector, the amount of water inside the collector stays the same! Where does the water come from?

Bugusing: Ever refill Watering Can at no charge at the collector - and never while having water bottles in inventory.
