Title: Possible future update: Deathmatch Arena
Post by: Silberspeer on April 13, 2015, 04:11:07 AM
It's been eleven days since we released VoidExpanse on Steam and now it's time to finalize the planning of first content updates. We are exploring many features to add for the next content update. Some of the things are already done, some are on the way, but one of them is the new game modes for multiplayer.

For the moment we we are thinking about some kind of "DEATHMATCH ARENA" for VoidExpanse. We have some ideas, but before we do anything we would like to ask you guys:  What do you want to see? What needs to be in there?

Please leave your suggestions here!

Based on the feedback in the Steam reviews I would say your highest priority is creating more "single player" content.
- More story
- More random quests
- Things to make the universe be more alive
- Stability of the game
- Improve trading

I don't think people are really waiting for a Deathmatch Arena. I mean it would be nice, go into a server, customize your ship, do some Arena battles - but I don't think this is something will make the game more successful.

People want an a-RPG so they need story, purpose in doing what they are doing, not just randomly go mining for 2 hours in order to get money for a ship (Although I love mindlessly mining).

Lots of ideas have been posted on these forums and on the steam forums.

I have to agree with kyokei.

For me, I see this game as an RPG/Roguelike in space, and I think adding more depth to the story, and the single player experience is much better, and more alined with what the game is currently, than trying to add mutiplayer things.  It will be like having a pretty good single player game but instead of making it even better, you will add a death match to add more to a lack luster pvp experience.

There are plenty of good PVP games out there that I think will attract the pvp market, but this game's single player is quite unique and is strong enough to stand on it's own, and could be even better if you focused on adding some of those things kyokei mentioned.

If you are going to do an Arena type thing, looking at star control's melee mode would be a good start.
