Scenario:

Join a party with members of mixed factions.
Party members allow each other base control.
One of the party members if a faction leader.
Two players, one of each faction, create land claims side by side and upgrade them so that they border each other with no buffer or even overlap.
Faction leader turns land claim of his faction member into a faction land claim.
The land claim of the non-faction party member is lost, now part of the other faction and unable to be maintained by the original owner.

TL;DR: if bases touch each other, a faction leader can claim both bases even if the bases arent owned by the same faction, as long as those people are in the same party.

Hello!

This is expected/by design. You can build a land claim close to another land claim only if you have ownership over that land claim (has your name added to the access list).
It doesn't matter if you share a faction or a party.

If the land claims are built close to each other, they can be upgraded to become a shared base (have their green areas overlap).

QuoteTL;DR: if bases touch each other, a faction leader can claim both bases even if the bases arent owned by the same faction, as long as those people are in the same party.
But the party system is irrelevant here. What matters is the access to the land claim. If you have access to the second land claim, you can upgrade the primary land claim and get a joined base.

Regards!
