Hello!
No, it's not possible. Even with a mod it's not possible as the server doesn't send more data than the player should be able to see (to save the traffic and ensure a fair game). All players have the same view area on the max zoom out.
If you don't have a screen with the 16:9 aspect ratio, and want to ensure you have a max possible view, please check the game options -> Video options -> Screen aspect ratio.

too bad It would make it easier to at least see a whole land claim area when you are making it. Well, I guess if it is the same for everyone no one has an advantage.

You can make a base and rebuild them later 1:1 ... Check out the Cryofall editor (you need to set in Steam from games -> tools)
