Maybe add an option where you can upgrade your ship to add more mount points?
I find it really saddening when I have a big ship and it can't even fire missiles :P

QuoteIt might be possible, but I cannot promise this particular feature.
The feature itself is not that difficult to implement, but implementing UI for it might take a good half of the day at least, or more.
So, we will see!

What I even meant was doing this without a UI change.
So if there is another player in the sector and I kill an enemy then we both get the XP. Might be a little overpowered but it beats fighting over kills or trying to let your co-op friend have the kill.

Is adding shared xp for people in de same sector doable? For me this would help multiplayer enormously.

Could you post a list of fixes which are going in so it helps of thinking of new smaller things?

You can join my server - see this post (http://forums.atomictorch.com/index.php?topic=141.0)

I don't think multiplayer will be very big at the moment since we are waiting for fixes and not too many people have bought the game yet.

Feel free to level up on the server, do note that the savegame can get corrupted so you can lose everything.
Check the post on the forum to see when it's online.

Ideas and suggestions / Re: Some suggestions

QuoteBackground radio
Totally pro this. Random chatter and random chat from nearby ships would uplift the atmosphere of the game immensely.

Completely understand, dealing with the likes of me is already time consuming! :P

You are flying light ships and they have gravitational dapmening allowing them to perform such maneuvers.
But when you buy a bigger ship, let's say a Hammer (heavy cruiser) you will feel the full power of the enertia :)

I mean you are the expert but it feels silly that after being on cruise my ship stops in a split second.. shouldn't it stop with a little after slide kind of effect?

And what about the game speed? I feel like it's slightly too fast when you take into account the way the aiming works. For me it sometimes feels like it goes so fast that you seem to be flying round and round an enemy ship... This could ofcourse also just be me :P

QuoteThat's in the plans also, but it's too early. We want to make sure that the game is more or less finished first. At least when it is in beta.

I understand that, I was under the impression you could sell your game via the humblebundle site but not have it publicly on there. I think I remember this from a year ago. If you want people to buy the alpha and get more feedback on your game maybe it's worth checking?

Hiya,

Didn't see a post about this one yet.

So I bought VoidExpanse today, am absolutely loving it.
First thing which directly really really bugged me is the ship movement, now let me explain.

Turning and so on feels quite ok but the accelerate and move back really doesn't. It feels way too arcady and way too fast for a big ship being in space.
Then you have the cruise control, which when you press S goes to an immediate stop. Now that saved me a few times but I should actually have crashed into the space station.

Is anything going to be done about this because I feel that 1) it makes the game feel like an arcade game when it's clearly a not and 2) it makes the game way way way too fast.

Anyone else feel the same?

@Lurler, maybe an idea... can you not talk to humblebundle and get your game sold via them?

Long time gamer here too.

Lately I've been coming back to Sim games en Space games.
I love games where my goal is just to survive, build, gather etc.

At this moment I am playing a lot of SPAZ, Diablo3, Euro truck sim 2.
I backed Stonehearth a while ago and every so often I check the Alpha build to see how far they got.

    - I see you have a tab for news, is it not a better idea to have the news on the frontpage, make smaller buttons at the side or bottom to launch a game and have tabs for the games itself. That way you can go to the tab for VE, and there you can select if you want the stable build, exp build, etc etc.

I am not exactly sure what you mean.

If you look at the screenshot you posted you see at the top a tab "Games" and a tab "News".
In my eyes it would be better if the launcher defaulted to the tab "News". I am assuming in this case that the tab "News" will contain information about future projects, updates and anything else you can think of.
Besides the tab "News" I would then have a tab called "VoidExpanse" which has the information in your screenshot and perhaps news about VE changelogs+major news topics?
Next to the tab "VoidExpanse" you would then have a tab called "Newgame2" etc.

Then I would think where the placement of downloads is at the moment, maybe next to it have some Quicklaunch buttons for each game. That way you don't need to go to the specific game tab and you can just launch your game from there.

I hope this is more clear? I'd draw a picture but my paint skills are horribru.

Hi,

I'm wondering why you are not on Steam Greenlight. I see on your webpage that you do want to get on Steam.
Maybe something to think about and work on? :)

First thing that popped in my mind was Dinero, but that's just silly :)
I keep coming back to Drupals.

QuoteGet that launcher and put anywhere, such as on your desktop. It is just one executable file, no extra folders, config files, etc., nothing. Maximum simplicity.
I have to comment on this, I do think that people like to also have some sort of installer which then has the option to add a shortcut on the desktop, taskbar and ofcourse the windows dashboard.
Most people also like to have everything get automatically installed in the program files folder.

Other than that the launcher looks quite good as it is.

Some questions:
- when you download the game via the launcher, I take you will have some sort of progress bar which tells you how much time is remaining and how far in % the download is?
- I see you have a tab for news, is it not a better idea to have the news on the frontpage, make smaller buttons at the side or bottom to launch a game and have tabs for the games itself.
