Its simply an item that equips in a Tool slot, requires recharging, and keeps spoil-prone items from rotting while in your inventory.

It converts one row of your inventory to one that will prevent food/herbs from spoiling while out foraging.
Auto-sort assigns only food to that row, and if you have it equipped then you are dedicating those slots to ONLY food/herbs, which also serves as a drawback if you aren't carrying many spoil-prone items; Either you have it equipped to preserve the 3 stacks of berries and herbs you don't want to spoil and forfeit the other 7 slots in that row, or you unequip it and risk having to carry around piles of rot on your trek home, or log out with them in your inventory.

Especially handy for those who need to travel to a biome across the entire map to forage for biome-specific resources.

Ideas and suggestions / Let's talk Sugar!
May 07, 2020, 02:55:56 PM
Hey there, first off: Great game. I am addicted, as many of us are lol

So, Sugar. I suggest that Sugar stacks be increased from 10 to at least 100. One reason is that while making Berry Jam in a cooking stove, in order to make a full stack you need 30 berries, and 30 sugar. But you cannot fit more than 40 ingredients total. Also, it's such a space sink in your inventory. It's ironic while farming sand and sugar that sand can stack to 250 but Sugar stops at 10.

Regarding freshness, Sugar keeps indefinitely. It's shelf-stable, so it shouldn't really degrade over time in my opinion. Also, you should never put sugar in a fridge as it turns it into a clumpy mess when in a moist environment.

But I suppose I'm talking refined Sugar, which is what it's image appears to be, and not Sugar straight from the Cane - so maybe if it's raw Cane Sugar then it is subject to rot but maybe introduce a second refining step in order to make it into the Sugar that we all use every day?

Anyhow, just my $0.02 :)

Thanks for making a fun game!

Bug reports / Floater not Despawning
May 07, 2020, 12:41:38 PM
During a Native Life Form event during which my home was in the center of the event zone, I had two Floaters end up at two of my doors. I walked too close to one of the doors and the Floater entered. Once it killed me, I respawned in my bed and luckily, it was out of range, off-screen. I went AFK until a little while after the event ended and once I returned, I left the bed area to find the Floater still in my home. I don't know if this is a bug, per se but it was inconvenient lol

The previous night, while again in the center of the event zone, a Floater followed me into my home and ended up right beside my bed, and spawn camped me haha. I tried respawning near my bed instead, but fell victim to a different Floater.

I understand that not allowing mobs into your house isn't really mechanically sound as one could open a door and kill the mob from inside. Although with Floaters, as they are an event mob and are also ranged, it may make sense to allow an attack to penetrate a base if a door is open, so there is still danger if you attempt the above exploit.
