Game discussion / Re: Is VoidExpanse ready for gold?
December 24, 2014, 05:17:57 AM
I think the game is ready. Additional features can be added later, such as crafting and so. Fixing all remaining bugs is a must. Maybe Early Access for a month or two, then release the full version. Given the full feature set, and all the gameplay you can currently get out of it, I'd say applying a $19.99 price tag would probably be reasonable. Not sure what kind of price tag you guys are considering. That's my feelings anyway. :)

Ideas and suggestions / Re: Minimizing the game
December 21, 2014, 04:19:12 AM
Huh, didn't realize you tried it out Umba. :D

And no, no real way to pause it, I don't think, since your essentially running a server, in single player mode. So, yeah. But hey, who knows? I don't. :P

Mods / Re: Breaching the Core Full Mod Discussion

Hey Hammish,

I've got a bunch of folks playing intensely every day on a somewhat private server, if you need testers, I can wipe the server save and start over with the mod installed. Some of them are really looking for new content, they've basically burned out breaking the current game. :D

So, if you want it tested, I can certainly train the imps on it. :)

Bug reports / Multiplayer chat is kinda iffy.
December 21, 2014, 02:37:02 AM
Just a heads up guys, multiplayer chat is a bit bugged right now. Some of the clients reach the message, others don't and still other's recieve garbled characters. Might wanna have a look at that. Also, the autopilot override is displaying some bugged characters. Other then that, nothing new to report in v0.15.2 at this point. Will post later on anything else.

Oh, don't mind me. I'm not complaining man. Just very tired tonight, and eager to start splattering some aliens. :P

I've been operating a limited, but very high traffic private server for the last day or so as well. Errors out the yin-yang (Hehe) more or less. I can provide logs as well.

Oh, and some of the research options are actually giving research points, instead of taking them anyway.

And did I mention the main storyline is broken? Yeah, might want to fix that. Quickly please. We cannot progress the game any further if we have no access to the Xenotargn systems, sadly. :(

There are about four of us now, somewhere in the range of Level 60-70. Doesn't seem to be a way to chat with other players either. Either they don't get the chat message, or it comes up in garbled text. Fortunately, we are all on Teamspeak, so we manage that way. :)

I do appreciate you logging in Lurler, you as well ai_enabled. I did notice you both log on briefly, but it's kinda hard to play with 340 ms pings of course. There are two very, very hard core testers pounding away at the current build and breaking it in more ways then I care to count. Posting the encountered bugs here, is well beyond the scope of a simple forum post.

Sorry guys, there are just too many to post. Again, I can provide logs for you guys if you need them. :)

Bug reports / Re: Mining bugged
December 17, 2014, 06:43:20 PM
Just a quick update on this, I did some mining in 15.1 and it's still pretty bugged. The looping sound is there, forcing me to save and quit and reload my saved game to get rid of it. Furthermore, there is no notification when the cargo hold is full, it just keeps mining with no notification at all once the cargo hold is full.

Just thought I'd bring that to your attention. :)

An excellent patch. Good work Lurler, and team! :D

Hmm, had to poke my head in here and throw off my lurking cloak at the mere mention of Star Control. I enjoyed the original quite a bit on Sega Genesis. Then later, the sequel on PC. Still have my Star Control 2 disks and map around here somewhere.

I'm guessing that ages me well beyond most of you folks. Which is kinda sad. :(

Oh, well. With some luck, and alot of hard work, Void Expanse could become the spiritual successor to Star Control 2, in most ways anywayy. That'd be pretty bad ass actually. :)

I have a few hours (hopefully) to spend on testing this weekend.
AI and Lurler, what do you want me to focus on and on which environment? (mac, linux, win)?

I dunno man, I've put about 20 or so hours in since Monday, on the Windows version, and I'll be damned if I can break it. Other then the littany of grammar and spelling errors (Tsk, tsk), the game always comes out looking like gold.

So, uhh, yeah. If you need text reports Lurler on the english stuff, let me know. Otherwise, pass me another build, brutha :D

Oh, just as a sidenote. Autopilot is acting awfully wonky. I set waypoints and activate autopilot, only for the thing to fly off in some random direction, beeling way out of the system. Flew me into the sun a few times too. :\

I can confirm most of the observations above. I do prefer the new music though.

1) The new crosshair is great, if a bit big.
2) No lag or anything.
3) Server browser just keeps looking for servers I'm assuming, instead of returning a "no servers found" dialog? Or is that not implemented?
4) Having giant asteroids as part of the background is distinctly bad idea. :P

Otherwise, no stability or performance issues on my rig. Any particular area you want us to be testing out? A changelog would kinda be helpful as well, even if it's sent to us by PM.

Anyway, great job so far with all the new content. :)

Oh, no. Don't give me your excuses. :P

No, seriously though. You'd be surprised how wacky some of the games I tested in beta were. Phew, wow, some of them were just awful and riddles with bugs. I wouldn't too much about bugs and broken features at this point. It's gonna be Early Acesss anyway, yes?

Alright, dang it. Come on Lurler. Let's get this going here. I'm frothing at the mouth for my Steam test key. :D
