Forgive me if this has already been suggested, or is already possible...

But I think it would be very nice to be able to write down custom notes on the galaxy map (either freely or attached to stars)
This way I could note specifics about a system that I might want to know later, whether it's defenses or what I left in the station's storage or whatever.

I got this bug too.
I've only attempted the one escort mission, but if it helps..

• I'm playing single-player.
• The following ship was labelled "new npc"
• It stopped following after the first jump
• The first jump led into a system where radar didn't work
• At the first jumpgate, the ship is sitting there now labelled "freighter"
• If I save and quit while sitting next to the following ship, and then reload the game, the ship starts to follow me again but it still doesn't make it through jumpgates.
