I've seen references to the game starter, but I don't know where to get it, since I've purchased the game through Steam. Is there something I'm missing here?

Does a manual exist for VoidExpanse? I bought the game through Steam, and have been unable to find so much as a mention of it anywhere, either there or in the forums here. While I do enjoy figuring out a new game as much as the next gamer, I'm a bit old-fashioned in that I like reading about a game before playing, usually when it's installing (insert disk 7 of 15...). ;-)

Also, there are a number of references in the game to special 'perks' available when joining a faction, but I've not noticed any particular advantages; only the mission after joining seems to differ between factions.

Any chance for a non-Steam download location? I have found that I don't much like the workshop's way of handling mods, and so prefer to add them in manually and append the ModsConfig.xml as necessary. I like the sound of this mod, and I'd like to give it a try.
