I'm a history teacher so i first thought of these:

Drachma from ancient Greece

Denarii from ancient Rome

Dinar from Muslims states in medieval times, still used as gold coins

Ducats from later medieval Europe

Or it could be a digital currency like Dogecoin (the horror)

However if something from the in-game lore could be created that would probably be best.

Yet it could be the short version of the Digital Intergalactic Credit Keeper ;)

I love it when devs put in this much effort to reply. That was a serious WOT that lurler read and took on board, which is awesome because I agree with all his suggested features!

Game discussion / Expanding Faction Area

So is it possible to expand the area of influence for a given faction yet? I've tried completing missions and killing pirates but I'm not sure if it is having any effect.

In what ways do you plan to implement this?

Traders and miners should be able to have some impact also in supplying resources and supplies/weapons so your faction can build more AI ships.

I expect once a system is weakened you should be able to launch an invasion on a station, killing a few waves of ships, dealing with turrets and shield generators or whatever.

Would love to hear other ideas for this feature also.

Considering that is one of my all time favourite games and obvious source of Mass Effect, i support any similarities to Star Control. The exploration was dangerous yet rewarding and the amount of genuinely interesting quests was phenomenal.

Some interaction with planets would be cool, possibly setting up farms or factories for the freighters to actually have a purpose of moving around resources/products

Hi, I've been trying to make various changes to core.cpk and my own .mpk files but when i start up game it says can't read them as a zip file. A tutorial would be useful as I can't seem to make any changes without breaking it. Tried to repack as a zip but no good. Any help appreciated.

Anyone else find the first few missions a serious challenge? I think i died 15 times just trying to kill that first pirate in my starting ship. The starting system needs to be toned down a bit imo. The first time i visited an alien system was a nightmare too. Died at least 20 times before i got the required item. Loving the game so far despite various crashes, pretty damn good for an alpha!
