Hello! Thanks for reporting!
Please could you upload the game logs? You can locate logs folder in the GameLauncher by clicking on "gears" button near "Play now". If you don't use the GameLauncher, logs folder located nearby game executable, but I also need "output_log.txt" from VoidExpanse_Data folder near game executable.

Now I have run the game several times today so sorry there is so many logs!

Thanks! I'm investigating problem now.
Is only one savegame not loading, or any other savegames also have this problem? Can you upload broken savegame?
Regards!

Thanks for uploading. I checked it: for us the savegame loaded without any problems, but in the logs you provided I see that the game cannot finish loading properly (to say exactly, the SpaceStation user interface cannot complete its loading tasks, which includes loading of textures and rendering of the Galaxy Map). Please try to reduce the quality setting and resolution, it can help game to release some more resources on textures and UI loading.
Is this issue happens with any other savegame? Or maybe all savegames cannot be loaded on your PC?
Regards!

Hi Ai,

I'm having the same issue with the repaired save game you kindly sent me.

I've done some testing, turning off graphics settings right down to the lowest settings with no luck, just sits there loading.

I've updated the logs.

Hope this helps.

Issue located! It's GUI related, unable to load some controls. Thanks for logs!
Fix will be available early next week.

Hello! Savegames issues should be resolved with just released v0.9.5 (experimental).

Thanks Ai,

Just updated while on the edge of my seat ;) Does this fix affect existing saves or only new ones?

Tried loading the save you fixed and still sits on loading screen, the music changes sounding likes it's loaded and I can access the game options but the loading screen stays.

Cheers

Well, v0.9.5 should fix issues in savegames from v0.9.4 (as I do manually with savegame you uploaded for me), but there are still may be client-side issues when loading some specific savegame on a specific hardware/OS setup. Please upload logs, hope we can finally resolve it soon!
Regards!

Hi,

This problem hanging on loading saved games still happens to me even on v0.9.5.  I noticed it on v0.9.4, but was too new to the game to understand what was going on.

I've managed to figure out how to reproduce the problem... and a workaround as well--at least for me.  I hope the following information helps.

Game version:   v0.9.5 (Launcher-based version)
Game mode:    Single-player
Bug Location:   While on stations
Steps to Reproduce:
   1) Create or load a previously saved Single-player game.
   2) Navigate into a station, if not there already.
   3) "Save and Quit" but do NOT leave the game/application (to desktop).
   4) Re-load the Single-player savegame from the main menu.
   5) At this point, the load should hang.  For me, it was sufficient to realize it hanged when the station music would start without the screen changing to the game/station UI.  However, if you just leave it alone, the music will eventually stop playing...and nothing.  (For me, typical successful game load transitions to station UI at the same time station music starts playing.)
Workaround starting at step 6) Hit "ESC" > "Save and Quit".
   7) Exit the game/application completely.  You don't need to close the Launcher.
8 ) "Play" the game, and reload the save game.  It will load fine.
   9) Attempting to re-do steps 2-4 at this point will cause the load to hang again (like in step 5) until you completely quit the game/application.
Reproduction Rate:   Every time I follow the aforementioned steps
Screenshot:   (N/A)
Bug Description:   Hang while loading station-originated save game immediately after quitting game to main menu.
Workaround:  Fully quit game/application, relaunch game, and re-load saved game.

My system specs:
   Windows 7 64-bit
   12 GB RAM
   Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz on Alienware AREA_51 from 2009
Samsung 500GB SSD as OS drive (also where the game is installed)
Please let me know if you need more, because I don't even know what else to add that might be beneficial.

Uh, I don't see a place to attach files for my logs and savegames.  I don't have any readily available public drives.  If you can't reproduce the problem with my steps above, please let me know where I might be able to send the files for you to examine--although, I feel they might be the same as what you've already seen.

Are you guys cleaning up memory/resources upon "Save and Exit"?  Is there something special about the automatic station saving that is different than the in-space saving?  Are there resources automatically assumed to be loaded while loading from a "warmed" game (i.e. not freshly loaded from desktop)?  Is there something overly taxing about the station UI?  Bah, I'm sure it's something simple and nothing as complicated as those suggestions for where to look I just mentioned.  :)

Thanks!  Fun game, so far!  :D

Really appreciate the detailed description for the bug and steps to reproduce. This will really help to find what is causing this.
And yes, if possible uploading logs would really help. You can use any public file sharing service, whichever is most convenient to you.

As for clearing resources - we do, but apparently not all :)

PS - glad you like our game :)

Here you go, the relevant files during the time I tested my theory:

Save "slot_1" was simply the new game I created to see if step #1 was applicable to new games created under v0.9.5.  The other one was created under v0.9.4.
