Do chests ever refill?

So I just discovered there are loot containers guarded by tough opponents scattered around the systems. Do these ever regenerate or is it a once only (or once per reload or something?)

Edit: hmm, so far I've only found I small piece of alien tech in them. Is there ever anything else?

No, they're not regenerating. The guard is respawning, but not the chest content. We will improve it in the future versions.
Usually there are one alien artifacts which are very valuable and you can trade them for the science points on the Science stations.

Wait, I got a loot container and I vendered the alien tech, so I screwed my character? I cant get science points...

There's more of them. Also you won't have a problem getting science points when you're further into the game.
