I've seen this problem in other games, and when you want to do a full, open loot pvp system, you can not have that.

The moment you add the ability to logg out and be safe, you force alt-vaulting and a lot of additional work upon the players while crippling an  integral part of the game.

If there'd be ten-thousands of players and dozens of different server types (mods), then yea, why not offer a PvE-ish, softcore-ish version with logging out and safe inventory...

For this, I have no objection.

but we're not there yet,

Where exactly are we?

Aren't we welcoming new people?

"Hi. Welcome to CryoFall. Enjoy the game."

(Then later when they sleep...)

(BOOM!)

XD

and in my honest opinion, this does not belong to the core game.

I just wanna say... I believe the core of the game is wider than most people think.

...
PEACE!

@Neoxion

What are you talking about? I offered a concept of a mixed server because you said that you like both PVP and PVE but dont want to go full in either.

What are you talking about too? I've never said that I like both PVP and PVE but don't want to go full in either. I also offered a concept, and I've already explained about it.

And you dont need any friends - you can just have a base in PVE zone.
In your concept, It's better to have friends to transport the goods. We both know it's way better. I'm just way ahead that I don't need to mention placing a base in PvE zone, and spend a lot of time walking back and forth. It's very obvious. Is this suppose to trigger me?

How about this? Your concept is so bad, and we both know that you didn't even think about it.

Later, we want to implement a separate chat channel right in the game to deliver the important notifications such as a server wipe announcement.

Now this is what I'm really looking for. I'm glad to see this. ;)

I admit my mistake. I was always looking at the "News and Updates" where I see an info if there's a wipe or not. I did not recall any announcement in the discord as well about the launch of a new server - RU, most probably because I was not active enough back then. But never mind that. It is clear now. Thanks, ai_enabled, for the quick response. ;)

The issue with the oil/lithium resource domination is recognized as a balancing issue and will be addressed in the next update. We prefer the iterative balancing approach by applying reasonable changes and gathering the players feedback to consider further improvements.

Well, everyone, there you go. What else a player can ask for? We are in good hands! Devs are very busy adding more contents, making adjustments to balance, reading forum plus discord, and they still have time to reply very quickly. Does anyone have an idea how difficult that is´╝čI honestly find it amazing... I really mean it...

@Neoxion
I think we can now drop the discussion about Li/Oil between us two. Not unless, you're talking to everyone and you just included @Xargt on it?

I've already replied to your post, "Don't you think that it's kind of extreme?"
I just said what our group did was complicated. In other words, yes, it's kind of extreme.
I will not say exactly what we did. You could say I'm bluffing. And you can keep on guessing.

If there are other matters regarding Li/Oil that were not discussed, let's see it.
I'm glad to discuss balancing with you. You are very smart. Everything is on point.

Else, I would like to move to another real topic; about trading.
But first, how about a good long break, yes? ;D

@ai_enabled

Sir, I have another suggestion aside from the special 1-limit land claim that I've suggested.

Either you post the exact date and time a week before the wipe on all servers, and/or add another feature where a server won't start until there are at least 30 players are ready to begin.

I consider this as a strategy game. But in strategy games, a game won't start unless all players are ready, right?

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm getting too far from the point of the game.
Please enlighten me?

I have the same nickname on EU server. I think rates and respawn timers are boosted for now, servers are 15% populated and it's easy to stay alive and farm - that's why it doesn't require a lot of skill to get everything.

Greetings, Neoxion.

We raided a lithium base to capture it, but claims cannot be destroyed now. Some people just left the game after that, because you cannot do anything if something is taken already, pointless to fight.

Claims will be destroyed in a number of days. I assume it depends on its upgrade.
Your group can secure it, or force the owner to leave in a couple of ways.

Our group raided a lithium base as well, but we've managed to secure it. I can't say we are happy though. What we did is complicated compared to how easy to simply place a land claim there during newbie status. No thinking. No sweat. No grinding and such compared to crafting a lot of bombs. All they need to do is to be online at the very first day, rush running there, and that's it. Bam! Land claim. Get rekt, boys.

I understand your point. I agree with you that devs should change the mechanic about this.

Else, people will just keep on asking "When is the next wipe?"
And no one will probably respond with the exact date and time, which is hilarious.

I understand that there are no ETA. Devs will never be sure when they will finish their big updates.

So what will the players do if they wish to dominate or at least have a good race to others who also wish to dominate?
Try to be online every single day? Ask everyday "When is the next wipe?"
Isn't that hilarious?

Looking for easy ways to store your loot? Player inventory space is enough to store all extremely valuable stuff (there are not that many hard-to find resources), so it will be abused. Just have several bases and make them not profitable to raid - people will not be pleased if after using 20 modern bombs they will loot some crap. Don't accumulate a lot of stuff - invest into your base (especially early game), dont build wooden/iron doors with brick walls (only temporary).

I also agree with this. But what if the chest can only store around four items?

but there can be a mixture of PVE and PVP server: tropical territory is PVE only and when you cross the border you will be flagged as PVP after 5 seconds and anyone can shoot you. If you crossed it flagged as PVP you will loose PVP status after 10 seconds if you didnt take any damage from players during these 10 seconds (in case someone is trying to escape a fight).

You have just said "Looking for easy ways to store your loot?"

Then I'll ask the same question.

Are you planning on having a friend in PvE zone to stay there to store your loot?

Please allow our characters to despawn from the world when we log-off with a one minute time frame before disappearing.

If devs are planning on creating a new machine (game_structure) for that, then that's also fine as long as it's easy to learn (T1) and craft.

If you feel our characters have too much inventory space for that, then how about adding a new structure instead; a 1-limit chest with limited inventory space to store items. Easily crafted and learned as well. This chest will disappear instead of the character after one minute time frame. The chest will reappear again when the owner has logged in.

I know it's devastating when a player got raided, but at least this idea will leave a better reason for that player to continue the game.

I believe this suggestion will encourage some (if not all) players who are busy at work, and at the same time, enjoy the game when a free time is available.

If anyone has a better idea, let's see it.

...
I'm thanking MilesD37 for the idea.

@Xargt
So, here is one for you :)

WooohoooO!   ;D

End-game gears are meant to be very stressful to craft.
It's fine - I didnt mention anything like this. Why stressful though? Difficult maybe.

(I wonder who is this "I" I'm talking to.)  ;)
It doesn't seem difficult as this doesn't require much skills to accomplish. Easy for me to say though.
Stressful because this is causing me mental or emotional stress. Common fact that grinding is stressful and we've accepted that.

Nothing is fair as long as there is a competition.
If someone placed a stupid claim and we blow up walls and this claim to see, that we did it for nothing and cannot compete because we are not allowed to, than it's not fair.

I'm sorry. Could you please rephrase this? I'm trying to understand what you really mean.

CryoFall seems encouraging us to form a group; players with different specializations.
Definately, but group also needs some goal.

Right! What is the goal of your group? It is most likely different goal from other groups. Not unless, All players are in one group, or if you can convince all other groups.

I got my hands on every resource in the game, have top tier stuff and have a claim on a strategic resource myself. But I just see how this system discourages people and they just leave.

Leave for what reason? There are a lot of possible reasons.
Are you sure they left or they were just waiting for the next round without even saying "gg"?

P.S. Your answer looks like a bot response btw :)
Thank you.  ;)

To all of you,

players who are trolling..
players who are serious..
players who are still learning..
players who are very good at games..
players who are born to compete..
players who are showing heart..

and the devs who I respect the most,

You guys are doing great.

I'm not suppose to say anything right now.
(...because no one wants my attention. No @Xargt.. sad face.. pfff...)

I should let this discussion continue a little bit more..

...
But, before this goes any further, let me clear some more points to all 200+ players out there.
...

  • End-game gears are meant to be very stressful to craft.
(...else, why don't we just have a gun/armor that has 10+ different looks to choose from.)
(...wait dude. Wood is already making me very stressful. The early walls we have to make... The fuels we have to maintain...)

  • Nothing is fair as long as there is a competition.
(or do you guys want me to be your father and.. here's for you, for you.. and for you. Do not PvP or I'll PvP your faces!)

  • CryoFall seems encouraging us to form a group; players with different specializations.
(...To the players who are stuck because there's nothing else to do. You are all encouraged to look for a group, especially to the other players who control end game resources. If all fails, we have to wait for the next round...)
(...I'm looking for a group. I have many skills; many specializations. I'm a master of none. Send me a message, yeah?)

...
And finally...
...

  • "...but we want to try everything right now."
You can create your own server. You can try everything there while waiting for the next round (next wipe).
http://wiki.atomictorch.com/CryoFall/Server/Setup

  • "...we don't know how. It's complicated stuff."
Then please wait a little longer. Devs are already making it so much easier for you.

  • "...we can't wait."
Uhm... want to play hide and seek..?

  • "...shut up."
Okay.  ;D

Very well said, Neoxion.

You know, I've been thinking about these stuffs every since I started playing CryoFall (around Sept. 5-10).
Balancing is really difficult thing to do, that honestly I would rather try to play with this flaw and see what goes from there.

Since it's very clear now to most players that Li/Oil are the end game resources that, potentially, a lot of players (huge clan) can abuse it's power, let's discuss about this.

I assume that these resources were placed like that in order to have a big action for the players in the game. Like in "RO" for example; Emperium.

I'm not really a fan of huge wars where numbers is the key. So at first I thought, how about we just have NPC there controlling those resources, where players will have to gather a specific very rare stuff like diamonds to create two special chests, deliver one of them to the NPC, and the NPC will deliver the resources using a parachute towards the other special chest in our base. (That would be boring though. No action.)

I have also thought about "moving that resources from time to time"...
It seems we are still going to have problems...

But as I continue playing, even decided to try on my own server, I found out there's one real thing that is really weird for me. Why can a newbie player, not even completing a single tier 1, can control such powerful resources?

So, how about this?
Why don't we all have a special land claim on tier 4, which is the only type of land claim that can be built nearby Li/Oil, and only one of that special land claim can be built per player?

Please share your thoughts, people. Let's combine them into a very effective solution.
And let's discuss one real topic at a time to avoid a lot of stress.
