Game discussion / Re: Fishing

Thanks ai.  I really appreciate that, yes I was excited to fish, but requiring insect meat puts a bit more RNG gathering onto something I might at least be able to try now.

I was thinking of farming, where you already have at least one seed from grass, by the time you unlock farming, so you can start experiencing it right away, even if it takes a little time to grow.

The bait tiers are the right approach though, so there is something to work towards.

My apologies, I guess I'm actually a bit embarrassed I even posted this comment.  I had read the following in Discord from ai_enabled.

"We really need your feedback this time. This update will determine the future of the entire project. So, please give experimental a go and let us know what you think about all of the changes and all of the new content."

Good luck to you and your game.

Let's talk fishing.

First off, thank you so much for your continued development, time and communication with this game.  I was very excited about A27 but am a bit concerned the wall to enter fishing is a bit steep.

I'm open to discussion and don't want to give an spoilers away, but perhaps there's a way to let us get into T2 fishing without relying so much on the first bait.

One thought was perhaps we could gather worms from clay?  Perhaps that's a stretch, but we get them from dirt in real life?

Another would be a chance of worms in grass, just like seeds?

Great thread, looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

1. You can click on the event notification to remove it from your view (unfortunately, you cannot do this with your questline)

2. Alt + Right click will drop an item on the ground

3. Keep all the fiber you get, forever, you'll thank me later

4. Once your helmet is fueled, 'f' will turn the light on and off

5. Cheese...as said above, can't say it enough

6. For Fuel production, it helps to have at least 1 Engine Generator powering 4 Advanced oil Pumps, with 2 Oil Refiners (I'm open to feedback on this one) and keep your original Steam Generator as back up, 1 Solar Generator for a second back up is nice as well.

7. Quick Travel - Make sure you have one bed where you want to respawn (can only do this with one bed) and take off your gear.  Now find a predator, boom...you're home.

8. Automaton mod (note, without the 'i') is very handy but some also consider it cheaty

9. Place Trading Stations as far apart as possible (until this is fixed) as they cannot be viewed clearly on the map if too close

I am keeping an eye on this update, and then I will attempt pvp again.  Just came back to a raided base while offline, tic-tac-toe design, but all chests (one in each room) were looted and IΓÇÖm not going through the effort of refilling them again.

Lots of good feedback here, looking forward to seeing it in any form, just so itΓÇÖs there.

Thanks ai_enabled, this sounds great.  I may have gone a little overboard on concepts, but I'd had a bit more coffee than usual that day.

Thanks for chiming in Khaos, I didn't even think of clearing the rad towns and having someone snatch your loot.

There is one other direction, but I'm not sure how it would be executed and that is the old Asheron's Call Lugian Citadel formula.  Where instead of it being one or two enemies/resources, it's a flood of enemies and resources that a bunch of players need to participate in, and loot drops to the ground all day long.

These were some of my fondest memories of playing that game, but I don't know how that would play out over ground (these were a contained dungeon crawl).

Thanks again for all your responses..!

In thinking of some other games, a few options might be below, but I agree this is a tricky one to figure out in terms of how to balance the "open world" feel, while at the same time, ensuring consequences, retribution or prevention occur.

1) You become flagged PVP if you did no damage and loot someone's Prag nodes from queen or Prag spire
2) Build a rep system based on behavior (could be a bit time consuming and bothersome to develop)
3) One large remains from the queen and Prag spire that only the people who "cracked" it or "killed" it can open, rather than harvest-able nodes scattered in the game world, built on a timer system, if no one loots after a certain amount of time, the remains are open to the general public
4) Inability to trade or use chat for an extended period of time for any above offense if still allowed (consequences)

If I can think of anything else, I'm happy to add later.  A rep system that also tied back to trading, etc. would be interesting but again, might be a large effort.

Hello,

There does not appear to be any way to quickly harvest the prag scraps that fall after taking out the Prag spire, and I've noticed people can come along and mine prag that is laying there before you get a chance to clean it all up.

Today on the American PVE server, someone cleaned up half the small mining nodes after I did all the work to clear the area, kill the beetles and also blow up the spire (I did not die and was mining the remains while they came along to take).

This is also after I rode around most of the desert looking for a node.  Kind of frustrating and there does not seem to be anything you can do about it, other than ask them not too (powerless request) and then let the whole server know who they are after, if they don't listen.

Was curious if there are any plans on how to help protect players getting this rare, hard to find resource.

+1 for this as well.  I skip the jam stage simply because of sugar.

You are welcome and thank you again for your reply and for keeping with this!

Thank you, as always, for the reply and for taking time to read my suggestion.

I guess I was thinking the volcano option is out for crafters due to all the gear required (a path not necessary for a merchant or a farmer) and I haven't personally enjoyed crawling through the desert for Prag using up my existing Prag fuel source, feels a little too tight on requirements.

The Trade Stations have been good, guess it's a matter of the price of Prag being low enough to justify buying large quantities, but I will point out, if that doesn't happen, then there's no solution to my point.

Either way, I do appreciate you took the time to respond.

Ideas and suggestions / The Merchant, the Farmer
May 05, 2020, 03:33:21 PM
I think this game has great potential and understand it was developed with PVP in mind, and the team has been adding PVE features, which has been great.

Here are two proposals for additional PVE features to cater to players that want to farm (or just be merchants) more than be fighters.

1) Remove Prag requirement from solar panel (make some sort of non-Prag silicon recipe instead?)
2) T IV non-Prag Deep Mining tool that can obtain Prag from anywhere

Just wanted to throw these out there, having a lot of fun, but avoiding a large percentage of technology still due to Prag requirements.

It was very common at first, and then I changed around some of what I'm selling and now I'm not seeing it any more.  If I see it again, I will let you know.

Edit:
I was able to reproduce.  I modified an existing item, changing it to something else.  When I did that, it appears to have blotted out either the "previous" item that was for sale, or the first item in the list, and because I only modified one item (I changed both the item and the price) perhaps it only blanked out the icon of the one item.

Some great ideas here, really like the utility mech idea.
