To clarify, there is a small correction—the next major update will be released later in May, we don't have enough time to finish all the remaining tasks to release it earlier May as we've originally estimated. The upcoming patch grew into a pretty decent update and took much more time than we've expected :-)

So, next week we're planning to release a minor update (without wipe) with Newbies protection feature and multiple improvements and fixes but no new content.
During the May we will release PvE update with powerful bombs in PvP and offline raiding protection, with servers wipe.

 I suggest running a Windows virtual machine on Vultr, it will be much easier to setup with GUI interface.
The server installation steps is the same as for running the game server on your Windows PC.

Hello!

The idea makes sense for some players and we will consider it in the future. Though we would prefer to wipe everything and maybe adjust the LP gain speed—as this way players have more progression in the game, starting as a fresh player have some benefits (especially if you know that all other players are also starting the same way on the wiped server).
Currently, we have a technical requirement to wipe the servers as we do larger changes which makes the savegames incompatible. We're going to implement the savegame compatibility in the next 2-3 major updates.

Yes, you need to copy-paste this command into the server command line (server window), not in the in-game console.

Hello!

This is a rarely reported issue so it's unlikely that there is a hidden issue but we need to investigate.
1) Are you sure that the doors access list settings doesn't allow any intruders to enter your base?
2) Are you sure you've logged out while you were not affected by damaging status effects such as toxins (by snake's bite for example) or radiation?
3) What do you mean "resurrected me without objects inside the building"? Do you mean your items? Have you lost any buildings you had on your base?

Hello!

So, you have installed CryoFall dedicated server by following this guide and curious how you could adjust some of the game rates and constants? Here is the guide:
  • Currently the rates editing is not available via server settings file (we're working on it). Meanwhile, you could directly edit the game code shipped right with the game! Yes, CryoFall game code is completely open source and ready for modding!
  • Extract <game folder>/Core/Core.cpk archive file - you can do this by executing a CMD script (for Windows only) located in the same folder. If you prefer to extract it manually (it's a simple Zip archive), please delete the original file after extraction and rename the extracted folder to "Core.cpk".
  • To adjust the game LP rate (gained via skills activity) please open the C# code file <game>/Core/Core.cpk/Scripts/Technologies/Base/TechConstants.cs in a text editor and find the constant SkillExperienceMultiplier. You can modify its value as you wish.
  • All the changes in C# code are applied immediately if your server is running—it will save the world, recompile the scripts and load the world back. It should take about a minute or two (as the spawn scripts will be invoked again and they're heavy).
  • If you want to extend the lifespan of the buildings built by players (for example, if you want to play on your server rarely and don't want to see your base destroyed after the login a few days later) please edit this file Core.cpk/Scripts/StaticObjects/Structures/Base/StructureConstants.cs constant StructureDecayDelaySeconds defining the duration in seconds after which the structure decay will kick-in if the player is not visiting the base longer than the defined duration.
  • Unfortunately, there is no easy way to adjust the item drop rate when you mine minerals or cut trees, but you could research other C# files and find yourself many classes (called "prototypes") responsible for these game objects implementations.

If you want to be able to merge these changes to the new version (so you don't have to do them all over again) please consider forking our Github repository. When we issue an update you could pull our master branch and it will merge automatically—in the most cases you will not need to edit any files unless there are some conflicts detected during the merging. It's a good opportunity to learn not only some C# coding, but also Git basics :-) . Enjoy!
